Greendale Secondary School - 51 Edgedale Plains

Indoor Sports hall and Polo T-shirt is the perfect idea for a Secondary School. The teachers are kind and show lots of concerns for our students, especially those taking their O Levels this year, organising many Extended Academic Classes/ Intensive Classes for us. Obviously this means more stress but it would benefit us when the O Level comes in less than 3 months.

I have been hearing good words from some of my friends whose children are in Greendale Sec. Their discipline in general is good. I asked about how are the teachers there, they said that they are responsive and helpful. The children go through outdoor and coding programmes, and their school assignments/hw are on this SLS platform. Heard that their PSG quite warm and vibrant with activities. Did a check online about the school and it seems that they are a "contemporary" school. Their school website is up-to-date with lots of information, accompanied by various school blogs that supplement the former. I found that they have a Facebook page, but not as updated as the websites. Also heard that their communications with parents are like "fast and furious", receiving various notifications through SMS and Parents Gateway. Oh and they could be having VR lessons in class too... based on my friend's child hearsay who happened to pass by and saw one classroom using VR recently. Interesting! I would give a 5-star rating for this review if my child is in that school now (currently in P6)... will be going for their Open House in November to find out more and decide.

From a parent's point of view, Greendale is a great value added school with lots of interesting outside classroom activities. My son went in with average PSLE results but has since bloomed to be one of the tops in his class. Credit to a great principal and teachers! I am also very happy with the school's strong standing in creating anti-bullying awareness. My boy has grown into a well balanced young man!

The school is quite good and they have a lot of fun events and activities. This can nurture students to become “Learners.Thinkers.Leaders”. I currently a secondary two student there and this is a school I recommend P6 juniors to go. But of course it’s their choice. Up to them! I had my secondary one juniors coming to the school this year and one of them said he had put GDLSS as his first choice! Just like me! Yay! I am in NCC CCA and this CCA is really great for me,now currently a Lance Corporal in the CCA. The Uniform Groups (UGs) in the school have attained gold for many years and made our school proud. Despite our school being a young school at 14 years old (although Edgefield Secondary School), our school is really experienced in its ways of education and our Teachers are really professional. Form Teachers are now relabeled as Class Mentors but they still do the same things. My Co-Class Mentor is a especially good teacher as he is very helpful and caring and asks us for our opinions on his and my Class Mentor’s teaching and finds a way to improve his lessons. He is strict though but that doesn’t stop him from being a good teacher. He has won one of the best teacher award (I forgot what’s the award name but it’s something like that). Our classes have been renamed. What was 2E3 is now renamed 2C this year onwards, due to our school being one of the pilot schools to have full SBB (Subject-Based Banding). All classes are now renamed in alphabetical order. The principal is really kind and friendly and this school maintains discipline really well. This is a rather honest school and they tell both bad news and good ones but they have a positive mindset and almost always treats thing positively.

I'm busy and there are too many things to share, including the fond memories I've had during annual level camps and stuff. My 'O' Levels year was the best year I've had in Greendale and I will never forget the people there and the events that took place in there as well. Thank y'all for a fun-filled and enriching Secondary School journey!

Good school! Btw, I am studying here so yeah. Lots of fond memories of secondary school and very sad to be leaving this year. The school has changed so much over the past 4 years but the thing that hasn’t changed is that there are always a team of over a hundred nice teachers who are ready to support you in your education. There is a lot of CCA and camp experiences here, which helps you overcome your fears and lets you experience the outdoors. Currently a sec 4 student of class 4C, and going to have O Levels soon. P.S. This is really a wonderful and amazing school. I'm currently a Secondary 3 student (2021). Happy 15th Anniversary Greendale! This school really changed who I am. The friends I've made along the way, the teachers that encouraged and helped me and the others that helped me. Many Alumni and past Council Presidents came back this year and it was great. When my time comes and I have to leave this great school, I'll definitely come back to greet the inspiring teachers. Hopefully by then I'll be a Life-long Learner, A Critical Thinker and A Confident leader. But most importantly, I hope that I would have reached my dream, to be a known animator/artist.
