Hee hee hee steamed fish & fish soup - 79 Circuit Rd

One the key elements of steam seafood is that the seafood has to be extremely fresh. Today the prawns were not good. The shells were sticking to the flesh and really, the size of prawns were miserable. I didn’t pay the bills tonight and I hope it’s not more than $8 for 5 prawns because that’s the quality we’re talking about. The dishes were generally tasteless. I would expect a lot more from a steam seafood place. Cannot trust any more recommendations from 8days. I’m beginning to think that one just has to pay to be featured in 8days.

Actually found this on 8days.sg. So for starters, arrived around 8pm and to my misfortune everything was sold out and they are left with red snapper head, white fish and 1 last set of crayfish. Decided to go with the white fish. After placing my order, it took them a good 40 odd minutes to serve my dish despite 1 that ordered just before me, with that being said, we even finished a plate of char kway teow and carrot cake, but, I was all ready to dig in. I have to commend that the fish is fresh, however, the sauce was just weird, tasted like watered down black bean sauce and the aftertaste left in my mouth was just weird. I would strongly urge these 2 boys to taste test sauces before dishing it out. After that whole experience despite the really affordable prices they can offer, it really isn't much of an advertorial worthiness, imho.

Came to know this stall on social media. Decide to try it. Tried their Steam garoupa fish ($6 & $8). Ordered the $8 as sharing. fish was extremely fresh and it's served whole. One of the most value for money dish. And it tasted good as well. Will definitely patronize them again and try their other dishes.

Steamed garlic clams is quite nice and value for money at $6 per plate. Steamed seabass is fresh and reasonably priced at $8 per plate.

1st visit to this store. Highly recommended. We tried the Lala @$8 good for 2 person sharing and Golden Pomfret $8 with 2 white. The fish is very fresh and nice . Will return again to try other kind of fishes and prawns. To avoid long q and waiting time. Suggest u be there at 5pm.

The timing I went there was late, they didn’t have much options for me; their grouper sold out, so I chose Ang Gouli fish, with affordable price of 12 dollars and the size was quite big. It was fresh but the taste was too light for me; luckily they provided soy sauce and cut chilli to enhance the favourite. With the price range, I have nothing much to complain

Ordered steamed seabass, the rest were sold out. Given the nature of the dish we expected it would take a while but actually we didn't have to wait for too long. If you are rushing for time, best to order other types of food. Taste was OK, not as flavourful but OK for the price. Thought the price was for whole fish (and it would then be cheap) but it was for half a fish so the price was normal.

After walking past many times.. finally get to taste what this stall can offer.. this stall is managed by 2 young men... ordered a steamed garoupa and some steamed clams (aka lala). The fish is fresh and taste pretty nice with garlicy sauce. The steamed clams are not so impressive as some of the clams has abit of sand in it. Will come back for steamed tiger prawns the next time.
