Heguru Centre (OCC) - 1 Orchid Club Rd

Very family oriented centre. Teachers really care about the children development and learning. I have been to both punggol and occ North centres. The difference is big. Over here, they really care for the development of the child and parents!

My boy joined Heguru one year ago when he was 3 years old. Apart from wanting him to build his memory skills, i would want him to have a better concentration on his learnings, develop his sociable and confidence skills. In addition, I would like myself and my hubby to be very well involved in his learning process. Also at the same time, we would like him to be independent in his learning as well (he was still crying everyday when he goes to prechool before we started Heguru). After a few lessons, we can see that his learning abilities and memories had improved, and he had become even more independent in his learning when he goes from independent class to preschool class. All teachers at the centre had shown great patience and encouragement to my boy, motivating to go in the class alone without much crying. Special thanks to Mr Hua Koon who is the centre manager who had shown much kindness to my boy and family to offer help in going in with my boy to attend a few lessons. Now my boy can goes in to the class independently without crying. He looks forward to enjoying Heguru lessons every week and loved the number memory games a lot and will role play as being the teacher at home. Heguru had definitely build a stepping stone for my boy in terms of being independent. Professional teachers with kids oriented values is the most important in a centre and Heguru at Orchid Country Club definitely will meet parents criteria of children character development and learning!

I've enrolled my 1 year old daughter to attend Heguru OCC for the past 4 months. What is good: Curriculum is well-structured and systematic. The flash card techniques used by her teacher is commendable. Teaching content is diverse - on top of covering fundamental concepts of counting, multiplication tables, memory training, "ESP" practice etc, it also touches broader aspects of Science, Geography, Arts, Culture, foreign languages and even occasionally Chinese poems. Interaction between teachers and my daughter is also good. The music and movement, as well as the physical activity segments is what my daughter enjoyed the most. What can be improved : Teacher's pronunciation of certain words can be better. When running through flash cards, mumbling/mincing of words is evident from time to time. Gossiping amongst teachers and unconstructive feedback is unnecessary as it ruins what is otherwise a pleasant experience for the parents.
