I cannot understand why so many comments that the school with new facilities and nice teachers even though the school is not open!! Actually there is only an office with few staffs, no teachers, no classrooms, no students. Seriously, do you really have son or daughter and be happy there? Are you kidding?

It was by a stroke of luck that I chanced upon Hi-5 House of Learning. They were having a Christmas camp and I thought it would be lovely for my toddler to join for the week prior to her starting preschool (at another institution). My husband and I went with our daughter to Hi-5 Bukit Timah on the first day of the camp, and were pleasantly surprised by how festive it was in terms of decor and staff dress (some were in Santarina outfits). We craned our necks and spotted the garden play area, which was shaded and well equipped. And on seeing how colourful and vibrant the preschool was, we started questioning our choice of preschool for our daughter. We enjoyed the photo and video clip updates of the Christmas camp programme the Hi5 team would send us daily, impressed by the various Christmas-themed musical, dancing, craft and play activities the children would participate in. Even snack times were made special - e.g. little mandarin orange slices and blueberries would be arranged in the shape of a Christmas tree; banana slices on lolly sticks topped with pointy strawberry slices to replicate Santa? At the end of the week, we attended the children's singing and dancing performance, at the end of which Santa made an appearance to give presents to the children! It was such a shining moment of delight in what had been a drab year marred by covid-19. Our daughter's start in her 'permanent' school the following week was rocky, and I suppose a shock after such a great experience at hi5. Whilst this school has great facilities, we felt that the strong focus on academics and regime was not the best fit for our daughter. Hence, we brought her back to Hi5 and have been very happy with our decision to do so. She now plays, sings, dances and does art & crafts a lot on a daily basis. Funnily enough, she also asks to do alphabet tracing at home and talks about numbers enthusiastically. I was particularly impressed that they made a bubbly volcano, pancake batter and also potted some plants. Also, they had a great Easter week with paper basket-making, egg painting, egg hunting, etc. As for the staff, we believe from our observations that they are kind and love working with children. In short, I think Hi-5 is just such a happy place for small children. I heartily recommend Hi-5 to parents seeking a nurturing preschool. P.S. Our daughter started at Hi-5 in early March and so far we've been very happy with the school. We initially visited the school for their Christmas camp and we thought it was so nice that we decided to move her from her then current school. All the teachers and support staff are very friendly and caring. The focus seems to be firmly on learning in a fun environment (with an emphasis on music and expression) which we think is just right for young children. The facilities are well maintained and the classroom environment creates a bright, colourful and fun atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend the school to other parents.
