their bread and baked goods are all very healthy, simple and unpretentious. tastes so good, my favourite is the shokupan and it's seriously the best bread I've ever had. you can tell that the owner is passionate and cares a lot about her bread. excited to check out their limited edition flavours all the time!

My personal favourite from Hiro Bakehouse is their Cream Shokupan. It is soft and delicious. Bought the bakes there for my family and friends to try and they loved it too. Will order again when I crave for it.

If you do not like sticky sourdough bread, please ask them to cut the loaf before you leave the bakery. I bought a whole loaf last Saturday. Everything looked ok from the outside. When I sliced the sourdough bread in the evening, it was sticky inside. It was suggested that I sliced the bread while it was hot. Hence, it could affect the texture of the bread. I was told that this was the right consistency after sending photos to the bakery. So my advice is to slice the sourdough before you leave the bakery to avoid disappointment like I did.

Shokupan Azuki (seasonal) & Country Sourdough. The Shokupan is my favourite for this one and the red bean helps to give it a familiar taste (ala tao sar pau) but with a different pillowy soft texture. Their Country Sourdough looks picturesque but the name got me thinking if a good sourdough is defined by the sourness when we taste it.

My go to shop for shokupan. They do shokupan, sourdough and a couple of specials like scones/pound cake and cookies depending on the week. I’ve tried a couple flavours for shokupan like genmaicha, tonyu, matcha, Neri goma; but in the end i still like the original cream shokupan. Personally I like putting it in the toaster oven for a nice cheese toast! And as a sidenote you should only cut the bread when you are ready to eat it otherwise it’ll dry out.

Got their oats and seeds sourdough, and it is everything I want in a loaf. Even on the next day the centre is soft and chewy, while the crust is crispy without being hard. The seeds added nice flavour, so this was perfect toasted with just a little butter. While it is not cheap for sure, the loaf was very large and worth the price in my opinion. I only wish they sold the sourdough on more days!

Had butter milk scones, taste was quite mild but went really well with the lemon and cream sauce. Also had a slice of lavender cake! (that I couldn’t manage to get a pic of before devouring half) Love that it’s not overpowering and it’s nicely done with just a hint of floral. The cream on top was a nice touch, balanced the flavour well too. The huge slice was really affordable!

I’d give more stars if I could! Absolutely love the taste of the chocolate pound cake. It’s chocolatey but not too overly chocolatey. The tart was equally good as well, with the right balance of sourness to it. However, you have to come by early as the cakes and tarts will be gone fast!
