Hougang Polyclinic

Visited this clinic twice within 7 days period on appointment basis, booked through the health hub. Glad to experience on time consultation .

Today going to Hougang polyclinic end up to National Dental Centre A & E. A & E price charge$ 110 when walk in. I pay $84 dollars at polyclinic but medicine only 1.15 for 2 plastic bags. Why examination bill more expensive than medicine.

Since last October, I had been consulting the doctors at this polyclinic for this reason- recurrent loss of voice. The doctors(local) during the first two visits understood the nature of my profession and its job hazard and gave me extended medical leave. Today's visit was unpleasant...with a Filipino male doctor. I had not recovered from my loss of voice since January this year and had been straining and coughing/sneezing a lot at work. This doctor was stubborn and did not give me an extended leave despite me explaining that it had been about a month and I am yet to recover. He said I do not have any fever but I told him I don't even have a voice for my job. He was also patient unfriendly unlike the previous doctors as he was talking to the computer more than having eye contact with me. Can polyclinic only give a maximum of 3 days of medical leave unless you have a fever? The doctor knows best it seems! Some foreign talent there!! Blistering barnacles!!!

I had fixed an appointment at 3.20pm and I arrived at the clinic 10 minutes earlier. However I still had to wait for another hour for my turn, which was really a waste of time. What's the point of fixing an appointment and still have to wait like a walk-in patient?

Cute bus interchange with connections to Ang Mo Kio Yio Chu Kang Tampines Serangoon Clementi Interchanges. 2 bus stops to Hougang Centre Interchange linking to Hougang MRT station and bus interchange Hougang Mall Hougang Village with plenty of dinning shopping banking library postage supermarkets community centre cinemas entertainment and amenities nearby. Walking distance to Hougang Polyclinic Hougang Stadium Swimming Complex. Friendly cosy comfy welcoming ambience for romantic intimates groups students tourists expats locals visitors and families.

Good place to go if you already have an appointment via app, website or call for simple consultation like common flu since the waiting time can be shorter than a crowded GP. But for recurring or chronic illnesses, beware. Some service staff are not good at lab services, resulting in other issues, while some doctors/ staff seem to be inexperienced, resulting in providing dubious advice. Stay alert and ask more questions. If not, you might realise that you will be taking unnecessary trips to the polyclinic or hospital. I'm giving it a 2 instead of a 1 because it has its merits for common illnesses.

Big and spacious polyclinic with a lot of doctors. However, the queue can still be quite long at times.

Booked appointment for 3:20pm. My earlier appointment at women's section ended 10 min before this. Q no. 336X. Based on the same q number I was early. But i waited and waited. 3:40pm passed and numbers that were bigger bypassed me. So i approached the counter staff. Was told that those numbers had appointment time earlier than mine. 4pm, saw numbers smaller also being called, so what is what??
