throughout all the years dancing, the teachers have been very supportive and are always helping me to improve. i am also able to adapt to other forms of dance for cca such as contemporary dance through doing ballet. This is all thanks to Kavanagh Dance.

Wonderful team of teachers with experience and most importantly, they have genuine hearts to groom dancers from within all the little ones. :) highly recommend for parents who are looking for a safe space for their children to explore different genre of dance with great teachers who are patient, professional and real practioners who dance their talk! Didn't regret sending my kid and nieces to them.. keep up the great work teachers!!

I was an ex-student here for 9+ years (from 2006-2015) and all I can say is that I’m surprised I held on for so long. Ballet itself was enjoyable but the dance school was very poorly run and, at times, exploitative. At some point, my classmates and I were taking two years just to take a single grade (as opposed to the one grade per year standard in most other schools). Ruby Kavanagh’s (the principal) excuse was that the rate of one grade per year was only feasible for “people who were dancing every day”, while we were only dancing once a week on weekends. Yet, this was clearly a poor excuse given that my three friends who had transferred to other ballet schools were learning at a much faster rate than us — I only just got on pointe shoes when I quit in 2015 (how do you learn for 9+ years and only just start on the pointe syllabus at 16 years old?). All I can say is that this was the school’s strategy of extorting money from us and this severely held back our progress. Ruby Kavanagh also seems likeable on the surface although this is ultimately just a facade. I was on the verge of quitting once when she convinced my mother and I not to because I was, and I quote, “a very very very very very good dancer”. Two weeks later, she sat in on one of our classes and asked what my name was. Additionally, the turnover rate for teachers was extremely high—I remember learning with at least 4 different teachers across my time there—which did not help with our learning, considering that every single teacher gave us a different set of instructions on basic techniques etc. tl;dr if you want to learn ballet and actually be GOOD at it, you’re better off learning it elsewhere. PS: I find it highly suspicious that all the 5-stars reviews have been left 6 months ago.

I started dancing w Kavanagh Dance when I was 5 in 2007 and have trained in classical ballet and jazz with them. Since then, I’ve won several dance scholarships and today, I’m Head of Dance in my boarding school in New Zealand. I owe it all to Ms Ruby and all the dedicated & kind teachers there who taught me that dance is about passion and hardwork, not just good technique. The family-like feel at KD is what sets it above others, I miss all of the teachers and friends I made there. I highly recommend KD for children of all ages to start dancing :)

The teachers there are experienced and knows what's best for my child. Both of my daughter had been with them since the age of 3 and 4, and have been with Kavanagh Dance for more 10 years and continues to enjoy their time there. As a mother I've seen them grow and developed with Kavanagh Dance. Would definitely recommend kavanagh dance to other parents, been a pleasant experience. Grateful for the teachers consistent efforts in nurturing our child, their efforts surely paid off.
