Great snack at affordable price. Filling is not too sweet and the skin has a nice margarine fragrance. Quality stuff.

I was expecting those closer to Penang that are crispy but came back slightly disappointed. They're the soft types which to me is great for the big MJK that I eat in Penang. Having said that and trying a few of this hawker's MJK, the filling is good and not too sweet. Best to eat there but you can bring back. It took me 20 minutes to get home and it was still warm.

Finally I got to support our local uncle after 3 attempts! Coconut filling taste the best and love it that it was made fresh on the spot unlike others that let their min jiang kueh turn cold on the shelf. For its bigger than usual size, $1 is really worth it and I can see the effort Uncle put in making the kueh. After seeing his article on 8days, all the more I'll like to support him.

The highlight is the cute senior couple running the MJK stall nested in a quiet coffee shop. Uncle works over the two pans and Aunty takes the orders. We arrived at 945 and was second in Q. We ordered 25 for us and friends and we were off by 1015. While we were waiting a bunch of folks came by to order but Aunty told them our bulk order was being processed. They didn’t have a number for us to ring ahead to order. The packing was in styrofoam boxes, with waxed paper lining. We brought our own and negotiated with Aunty to use them. There is parking but further than 400m away. Taste: we ate ours fresh while waiting. Peanut 8/10 Coconut 8/10 thé pastry edge was crispy and inside fluffy. Don’t expect the filling to be overflowing as it’s only $1!

Ordered a red bean paste and a peanut & corn. The taste and texture is completely different to the Penang mian jian kueh. The skin is very thick and fillings are very little too, taste wise is average.

Great Penang style mian-chiang kueh or known as ban-chang kueh in Penang. Prices are really cheap at $1 per piece and portion is very generous too. The food sells out quite fast - I was the last customer and it was only 11am on a weekday. The food court is small but it’s quite easy to miss out this stall as it’s a standalone stall.

Four star for the indomitable spirit of these hawker. This is food with a heart. You can taste the self made ingredients filling from every bite . Other than corn , ham cheese etc , coconut, red bean and peanut are their own process. The skin is a little disappointing because I expect the thin crispy rendition of Penang version. However it's a mix of local chewy and thin crust. Filling are done nicely . Not too sweet but suffice kick. Everything is a dollar for single filling. Aunty is really nice, she sent food to your table . For these seventy year old hawker , you have my salute.

I am so excited to heard there is a stall in Buangkok selling "Penang Mian Jian Kueh" because I live very near to Buangkok. But... The stall name Penang Kueh maybe misleading because it is totally not the Penang Taste. If you ever been to Penang and tasted the real Penang Local Apam Balik, Be it operate by Chinese or Malay in Penang, I am sure the Buangkok Penang Kueh will not meet your expectations. It should be Buangkok Mian Jian Kueh as it not even close to the Penang Style. I personally prefer when they put the batter in the pan, straightaway put the peanut and sugar, so that the peanut stick with the batter and the sugar dissolve in the batter at the same time. This will make the taste better and this is how it was make in Penang. My personal Point of view on Taste: 1. It is not the crispy type of Apam Balik. 2. Is a sticky Batter so the Kueh is thick but soft. 3. No enough sweetness. I go home and add Condensed Milk and it taste better. 4. Ordered a Peanut Corn. ▪︎A lot of peanut but only a little Corn. ▪︎And the peanut is not totally stick in the batter. ▪︎So it will drop out a lot of peanut when you eat. 5. Ordered a Coconut ▪︎Coconut taste so so. Just Normal Taste. 6. Ordered a Corn ▪︎Only a little corn! ▪︎don't really enjoy the taste of corn! Overall, the taste is still acceptable for most people. If you really want to try, you have to take away the word "Penang" from your mind. Treat it as a Buangkok specialty so you will not disappointed of the Penang taste.
