Lai Wah Restaurant - 44 Bendemeer Rd

My last visit to this restaurant was when I was a kid. Glad that I got to try its food again. The cantonese cuisines are still as delicious. My family enjoyed every dish that we ordered. For those who like cantonese cuisines, this is the restaurant you must not miss. Do give it a try!

Took takeaway, reached home in 1 hour, surprisingly still hot Ingredient portion was very generous and fresh, Love the noodle and the sauce Will definitely come back again.

This is an old cantonese restaurant serving traditional Cantonese food. It's been long time since I was there, about 20 over years ago. Ordered only 3 dishes that day as there was just 2 of us. The pork ribs were tasty and wasn't too fat. Was good. The qing long vegetable was very good. It had wok hei and the taste was spot on! So good I had an extra bowl of rice because of that. The roast chicken was a little dry for me. Overall it was a nice and bright back a lot of memories. Good to make a reservation as its a popular place with families and the older folks. They are a little under staffed so...be patient.

Very disappointed. Ordered fried E-Fu noodles with shrimps for $10. The taste was not bad and found only a 5 to 6 tiny little shrimps in the noodles (see the picture). The shrimps were so small to find, and the size was between the size of dried shrimp and 5 cent. ?

Ordered their signature dishes as recommended by our nice waitress. Crispy Fried Chicken being the exception, we weren't exactly bowled over by the other dishes we had. Generally on the bland side of things. Which is fine as I'm guessing will suit the majority of their customers. Anyway there's always a complementing dip or sauce to go with cantonese food. May be a good idea to prepare these dips on the table before customers start asking for it. The hyped up seafood hor fun was unfortunately tasteless with not a lick of wok hei. With a starter platter, one would expect this to be the first dish to be served instead of it appearing in the middle of the meal. The starter will then set diners' appetite up for what's to follow. As would a carb item to be the penultimate dish in the meal. Front of house ought to watch their tables and pace the kitchen, instead of rushing to put food out. Love the sharkfin scrambled eggs and mayo cold prawns. Haven't had these in ages. Overall. Room for improvement

Old-Schooled Cantonese Cuisine at affordable prices. The dishes are nostalgic, brings back memories when I had as a child.

Went there for the nostalgic atmosphere and to bring back memories of good old childhood days... However, food there is ridiculously expensive now, yet there was no portion size to make up for it. Basic dishes that were popular b4 like d sweet n sour pork ribs n claypot brinjal also isn't exceptional now, very so so only, and d price makes it even super not worthy. **OWNER OFFERED US A REPLACEMENT MEAL** (27/5/22) Thanks to owner of Lai Wah Restaurant who very kindly offered us a replacement meal as our previous experience wasn't exceptional. The standard of the claypot brinjal did improve slightly n portion of the pork ribs increased a little this time round and so we ordered a yam paste meant as a gesture of goodwill in exchange for their complimentary meal... We were pleasantly surprised when we asked for the bill of the yam paste and were told tt it was on the house too. Special thanks to Mdm Susan who served us well right from the start the moment we stepped into the restaurant.
