Small shop at the basement of Katong Shopping Centre. It's really hard to find a place like this that serves decent homemade local desserts. I had the fresh mango with ice cream and pomelo while my husband had the glutinous rice with ice cream. Both dishes were ok. The ice shavings we're smooth but couldn't taste the fresh mango. Pomelos were sour. As for the glutinous rice, they were not warm and too mushy. May try other dishes next time.

Wanted to try the desserts but got frightened away by a man in the shop. Shop is next to escalator. Going up on escalator, I looked into the shop, the man shouted at me saying β€œwho are you looking for?” After a while, I walk past the shop, this man shouted again. Apart from this man and another man at the same table, there was no body else. I will never go near this shop again.

Ah Balling Tang Yuan (SGD $2.80) @ Le Le Zhan Desserts. . This family-run hidden find in Katong offers a decent range of tasty homemade traditional desserts. . Their ginger soup is homely and comforting, having a lovely sweet spice flavour. . The glutinous rice ball is a little smaller than usual, but is handmade with a soft chewy medium thickness. . Seems they alternate flavours daily, this time only the peanut paste was available. It's sweet nutty in flavour, with a grainy chunky texture. Nice!.

Was in the hood and craved dessert. The couple running the shop is very friendly. 2 stars for the friendly service and the clean and neat shop. Would love to give a higher rating but the dessert is average. Had almond paste, yam paste and sesame Ah-balling. Peanut soup in the Ah-balling was watered down, almond paste was lumpy and the yam paste was smooth but bland.

A small cosy, family desserts place. I have tried their almond cream, sesame paste and enjoyed it. The desserts are good! Seating capacity is limited though.

No frills desserts shop. Auntie was friendly and helpful. Service was quite prompt. Ordered black sesame paste and yam cake. The paste was thick not too sweet. The yam cake was really good. The yam was thick, real stuff. Mushroom was chunky. Overall texture and flavor was good.
