I ordered Chicken Lamprais and Mutton roll set for go to. Lamprais was tasty, it is not the authentic version you find in Sri Lanka, it had some twist in it and I liked the twists. Stuffing in mutton rolls was really good but the wrapper was thinner. I would prefer more thicker wrapper.

Its like eating home cooked Sri Lankan food. The place is very quaint and very homely with the restaurant component of the eatery being an afterthought. Some of their selection of dishes and their availability is really dependent on the day or time that you happen to visit. I think the timing is a bit off on the listing as well (the place opened up around 11am when we where there, not 10.30am). Had the egg and milk/plain appam/appoom as well as the fish lamprais and enjoyed myself thoroughly. Personally, i found the food more to my liking than Kotuwa as this place definitely has the vibes and flavours of ceylon. Food seems very authentic and tasty. For anyone new to this sorta cuisine i would recommend starting with the milk/plain appam and trying the lampraise with the meat of your choice (its sort of like a Sri Lankan briyani) and slowly exploring the other dishes. I didnt manage to try all the dishes today but will definitely be back to savour the other dishes soon!

We had the egg and red pepper appam, the milky appam and the string hoppers there. They were so flavourful and delicious, and really felt like you had stepped into Rita’s own home, with the privilege of tasting dishes passed down from generations. The onion sambal that went with the savoury appam was delightful. No pics of what we had there because they went down quick, but we took home the Ceylonese briyanis, one tofu and one mutton and they’re smelling amazing. Pictured here:
