β β β β β Its a reasonable dine-in place with good tasty food and economical rates/cost. I like to have ayam penyet and wanton soup. I used to order roti john and onion rings but that stall is closed.. Ayam penyet and wanto soup are recommended..:)

β β β β β Located far away, in a residential and industrial mixed area, this is a fully Muslim managed coffeehouse.
Though I only tried their breakfast set, other stalls were starting to open up and the aroma of their cooking.... great!!!
Worth trying.

β β β β β One of the most affordable coffeeshop situated within Teban neighbourhood area.
MakanShiok boast a few awesome western dishes and our local cuisine served piping hot!
The main star from this coffeeshop will be Grillz where they serve almost the best dishes you could look for within the Western suburb.
Parking space is not an issue and the coffeeshop is located within a HDB area with plenty of lots available.

β β β β β Stall owners are all very friendly. The western stall takes long time sometimes, though. The ayam penyet is great, as are the rice.

β β β β β I think this is one of the few halal coffee shop on this island. Place sell quite a variety of rice, noodles & pastry dishes. V affordable pricing. Located right next door to a neighbourhood mosque. Give this place a try if you're not too fussy about your food.

β β β β β Was amazed by the sheer size of the cutlet, though I'd rather have a bit more of the (floppy) fries instead. The batter is quite unusual (like crumbs) and it tastes pretty good actually; the chicken is tender, fairly moist and coated generously with the batter. A savory sauce and coleslaw were packed in two separate mini tubs - the sauce is a really good complement for the cutlet. I'd say it's pretty good value at $5.90 (couldn't finish the chicken on my own).
Revisited and ate it at the KPT. Very much better in all aspect. Recommended! ?

β β β β β The sudden crave for Ayam Penyet had led us to βMakanShiokβ coffeeshop where a variety of Halal Food can be found and different from the main stream of stalls that we can find in the nearby Hawker Center. I came to know of this stall as one of my colleagues help us to Tabao during the CB (Circuit Breaker) period and I kind of recalled that it tasted above the average.
Just like a standard set of Ayam Penyet, it comes with bowl of soup, rice, vegetables, tempeh, fried Tau Gua, cherry tomato and the delicious looking piece of chicken. The soup is flavourful, garnished with fried onions and goes well with the plate of Ayam Penyet.
Ayam Penyet - $5.50 (Drink not included)
Though the rice was not as good as I had thought ~ it was neither fragrant nor fluffy. However the chicken complemented the plain rice. If you like hot and spicy, you will enjoy their chili too.
Take a look at the glistering skin of the chicken thigh and its sauce, its quite tempting, isn't it?
Comparing Ayam Penyet in the vicinity, there are definitely better ones but if you are looking for non fried Ayam Penyet, this should be considered as one of the better ones around the area.

Nasi Briyani Chicken was special item on menu that day. The execution of the plate of chicken Briyani is a little bit different with the use of mint leaves as garnishing. Briyani rice was fluffy and fragrant with the curry gravy.
The chicken was fried and was fragrant. The meat goes very well with the rice and gravy.
It was my first time ever in ordering Tomato rice. The fluffy long grain rice has hints of tomato taste comes with a big piece of chicken meat with some gravy drenched on the rice.
The dish was rather fiery with chili coated on the chicken. It looks wet in its gravy and from the texture of the skin, the chicken was pre-fried before coating with the gravy.
