★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best oden I’ve had. Hearty beef tendon soup and I especially love the konjac, half boiled egg, radish and ginger omelette, but you can really tell a lot of heart goes into everything here. Sake was great as well. Highly recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Oh my gosh????, aaaaammazing menus remind me home????. Gen san’s Oden is not a normal Convini- type. It’s quality is soooo high! He makes the Oden broth super clear and use Gyusuji (beef tendon) to enhance flavor. Curry-rice is a must-have! It has so much Gyusuji and onions that I almost wanted a second bowl??. We’ll definitely be back!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was the BEST Japanese restaurant I have ever been to during my 1 year stay in Singapore. Especially, I am super amazed by the quality, if you want to try the real Japanese Izakaya and Oden, you MUST come and try Marugen!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Marugen is definitely going to be my usual hangout place. Have tried many of the items on the menu and I must say not one let me down. Dishes are great with sake pairing. I love the fact that Master brought in sakes which are less mainstream (except Juyondai of course) and I got to deepen my sake world alittle more. One call out, the oden is different from the traditional oden, ingredients getting fried and using non soyu base soup are indeed a great twist. It does provide a gentle surprise to my palate.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommended for Japanese Tapas and Oden! We enjoyed the experience, especially the potato salad which was generous yet delicious, a complete balance of flavour and umami!
The oysters ? are great, but will have to be drenched in the sauce given to be fully enjoyed. The huge size is a great plus too!
Overall this is a place to revisit! Thank you for the warm hospitality ??
