My daughter and I went to A&E for high fever and food poisoning with dizziness and diarrhea. It was an absolutely unpleasant experience. I got to have my drip while seated at the entrance of a sliding door, while feeling very dizzy, nauseous, pain, fever of 39.6 degree, etc, etc.. My girl with fever of 39.5 degrees had vomited and accidently soiled in her pants due to continuous diarrhea. 1 nurse was kind enough to provide a blanket and nurse pants to cover, while the male man just responded they don't have any!!!!! Then she was asked to seat by the same entrance with the 'soiled clothes' while on her drip for an hour too!!!!! If both of us were not so out of it, due to our symptoms, we would have walked out of there. And each of us were charged $350 and $301 separately for that horrendous experience. The worst case, the antibiotics that costs us $87.20 in total, made us vomit and have more diarrhea!!!!! Absolute rubbish. Then we had to have 2nd opinion from another facility, where we were told not to take the antibiotics (Augmentin 625) which is notorious for causing diarrhea!!!!!!!

Delivered my first baby here, had a good experience and just delivered my second baby a few days ago. Nurses were great as usual. In fact I recognized a few of the nurses. They were kind, attentive and very sweet. The hospital administration on the other hand is atrocious. We called in and was told (was having contractions so my csec became emergency csec) if I went to the labour ward directly there would be extra charges so I heard my gynae say in that case just ward normally and then wait for the operation (scheduled same day). I believe the "labour ward" is the one where the ladies wait for their birth and is hooked up to monitor contractions etc? I don't know because I DIDN'T STEP IN THERE. So we went to the hospital, waited to be admitted and went up to my ward before being wheeled to the Operating Theatre. I was NOT sent to the emergency labour ward or whatever it was called. On the day of discharge, the counter staff saw that the emergency ward was not included in the bill (IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FIRST PLACE) and she insisted on adding the 900+ into the bill saying it's a PACKAGE WHAT PACKAGE? I didn't step into the ward why should I pay for it? Plus it wasn't charged in the first place so why insist on adding now? Overheard the nurses at my ward chatting about it too - they were getting scolded for not adding the charges but they were saying I didn't enter the ward so why would they bill me. We're already paying an additional amount for an emergency csec (extra 2k). If I didn't use nor step into the labour ward why should I pay another 900? Whatever "package" should have been in the extra 2k as well right since I'm using those services. Worst still, when I admitted nth was conveyed to me and I was shown the normal csec pricing. Seriously my stars is for the nurses. The hospital deserves none. Thankful for their help during my stay.

Heard from WOM that MA is good, came here for the first time & will be my last. Service isn't as good as government hospitals. Went there the place was under construction, fine. No one was there to assist patients while drop off, fine. Registration counter nurse was good, medical doctor for ARI symptoms was ok, the doctor...wordless. I am here for help otherwise i won't be here. The service given was like "there's nothing we can do/no one knows for sure" so...can you at least help? Bad experience, don't want to go back again.

Was just discharged today from MAH after an open myomectomy. My gynae was great, as usual ?. MAH was however surprisingly lacking considering I’ve heard great reviews about the nurses there. My comments are below:- 1. I had requested for a single bedder in advance as it was an elective surgery, but upon checking in business Centre told me only 2 bedders were avail. No reasons given. If I had been informed that my request is not guaranteed I would have opted for a different hospital since my gynae is free to operate in all pte hospitals. 2. I had bad nausea and was in pain after the ops but despite repeated requests for top up painkillers, nobody came. After numerous calls, a nurse finally provided me with apoxia and I felt better. 3. I was on catheter and a nurse who came to empty the bag commented I had very little output. I asked if the urine was being drained, she pointed to the tube and said yes and walked off. Hours later I felt my tummy was uncomfortable with the feeling that it was full of pee but you had to hold it. I pressed my tummy just to be sure it was not the surgery pain and was sure it wasn’t. At that point I was still in bad nausea, with post ops pain and now this! I called for help and luckily a more experienced nurse came to the rescue. She adjusted the tube and pumped in some fluids. After a while she explained it should be working now as the tubes were warm (previously cold) and the bag was starting to fill. True enough I felt better after that. I felt the first nurse should have been more alert since she has already commented the urine output was v little. 4. I took a shower on the 2nd day and asked someone for help with the abdominal binder but she said if I’m lying down there is no need to put it on. I was surprised since this is not my understanding after going through 2 previous c secs. I asked another nurse if I should be wearing the binder if lying down she said YES and helped me with it. This may be judgemental but it came across that the first nurse was too lazy to help me. 5. I was moved to single bedder on 2nd day as one was available. No hot water on 3rd day morning when showering. No one provided me with painkillers as well throughout the night and late into the next morning until I asked for it. I mentioned to my gynae that perhaps I could be discharged early since I seem to be doing pretty well without painkillers. A nurse was there and prob heard me, after that the other nurses were very diligent in asking if I need one. Also it seems to take very long before someone comes with medicine, once it took more than an hour before someone came back with panadol after my request. 6. Few occasions nurses came in to check on my blood pressure, temp and the wound but when they saw me with the abdominal binder they said β€˜oh you’re wearing a binder.. I’ll just check it later’. I don’t understand why and when will later be since I’m supposed to be wearing it all day unless showering? Dr asked a nurse how is my wound and she said it’s ok, how does she know when no one checked anyway? 7. On check out day, dr did a final check… opened up the dressing and asked the nurse to replace me with a fresh one. The nurse left the room with the dr and never came back, leaving me lying on the bed for 20 mins with an open dressing. It’s strange to me why would the nurse choose do another task when leave me lying there. Aftet 20 mins I called for help and another nurse attended to me promptly. Muttered something about the other nurse mentioned she would do it. I chose to operate in MAH due to previous good reviews from friends. I unfortunately do not agree.

I was here for my husband’s knee surgery. The nurses do not communicate well. They aren’t kind too. I had been waiting near the OT for more than couple of hours. No updates were given in spite of asking several times. I haven’t had this kind of bad experience in any private hospital. I just hope my husband will recover well post surgery.

Considering the amount we paid to have our baby (+18k$) I am just "amazed" by the low quality of service in this hospital. Some of the Nurses were ice cold, harsh and rude , we needed to press the bottom several times and wait 10 mns for a nurse to show up to help us. We are first time parents, we were anxious and had a lot of questions that were met with unempathy. We are simple people, we are not asking to be treated like royalties, we are just asking to get what we paid for. We had 3 days in hospital everybody encouraged us to use them fully and to ask for help. We felt that the Nurses do not communicate with each others, every shift you need to reexplain everything and any situation to the new nurse. It is very frustrating. They barely refill tea, coffee or even DRINKING WATER, I had to go buy water from 7/11 downstairs. They do not help clean the room, they do not renew towels or toothpaste...It is just unbelievable really! One of the nurses was wonderful with us and helped the mommy with breastfeeding. The lactose consultant Sharon , was absolutely sweet and I would like to thank her a lot, she is truly wonderful and Kind and patient. I wanted to register my newborn in ICA, sth that normally could be done in hospital but for two consecutive days the "system was down". We are of course thankful to the people who helped us having our child but still think that a maternity ward in a private hospital in a country like Singapore and given the price should be much much much better.

I chose to deliver again at Mt A as I had a pretty good experience with my older daughter in 2018. I actually had a better time this round. I chose the St Michael's ward and gave birth on the first day of CNY. From the start, i wanted to sign up for the Ladies Card and was there when the business office had just closed for the day. However they were so kind and went out of their way to help me rush the registration and reopen the office so that i could get the card completed and printed on the spot. As for the actual delivery, the previous time i got an older delivery suite that had not been touched up, whilst this time the room was newer and very comfortable. After my delivery i was shivering from the epidural and the nurses were really attentive in trying to make me comfortable. As for the St Michael's ward, the nurses on duty, especially the night shift headed by miss Glenda were exceptional. They were really patient in explaining the change in rules and rationale from my first delivery, and ensuring i had enough rest, food and drinks throughout my stay. I was able to also make use of the facilities better and was able to bring my newborn for the baby blessing at the chapel. The chapel staff, especially Sister Angeline were so kind, and although we are not Catholics, we really felt it to be a warm experience to receive such well wishes for the child's life. Its not a perfect hospital, but considering that this is a pandemic, and hispital staff morale can be low, i think they are handling really well.

Initially I was a bit worried after reading the negative reviews on Google but so far my day surgery experience at Mount Alvernia had been super pleasant. The nurse who attended to me at the ward, Rosi(?) Was super cheerful and made me feel at ease as it was my first day surgery experience. The other nurses were attentive too.
