Teacher Elena has been teaching Jia Jun and Xin Jie since they were 6 years old. She is indeed a very inspiring, talented and dedicated teacher with superb techniques and music interpretation. Within a short span of less than 3 years, Jia Jun and Xin Jie had progressed quickly to obtain Grade 5, both practical and theory certification. They are currently both preparing for grade 8 exams next year, at 11 years old. Teacher Elena is demanding, yet able to make the lessons fun for the children to be inspired. We would highly recommend the music courses at The Musical Art Studio. It has been a very holistic learning experience for the kids. We enjoy seeing our children master and perform musical pieces every year during the annual concert.

Since my child started learning musical instruments at age 3 about 12 years ago, I knew that this would be a long journey for both my child and her teachers. The teachers must be unselfish, devoted and passionate, just like parents nurturing their child; from no knowledge of handling musical instruments to become a Musician, without these in them, a musician of the next generation will not be born. I have found all the best characteristics of the teachers from Musical Art Studio!

My siblings and I have been under the tutelage of Ms Elena for the past 8 years. She is a committed teacher, who not only coaches us on the technicality of piano playing but also shares with us the composer and musical context of the pieces, essential in understanding classical music, which contributes to the interpretation and style of playing of the piece. The school also holds yearly concerts, for all students to perform, (which is important as part of the musical learning journey), as well as other opportunities to perform in external events.

Elena works wonders with our 2 children. Her vast experience in teaching applies to those who want to play for leisure and or those who want to sit for exams. Piano learning is a long term commitment, and finding the right fit for teacher and pupil is important. I brought my older child for trials with 5 different teachers before we came to Elena. She listens to a child and understands what he needs, while maintaining strict and high standards. Musical Art Studio used to be at Serene Centre but in order to keep fees low for students, they moved to another location. The class setting may be minimal and casual but that says nothing about their world class teaching.

I have been under the tutelage of Ms Elena for 10 years, and have achieved up to grade 8 with merit in both practical (piano) and theory. Currently, I am working towards a music performance diploma. Ms Elena is a dedicated teacher who not only focuses technical skills, but on music history and interpretation as well. This is important for the higher grades, even more so in honing performance skills and developing one's musicality. Ms Elena inculcates an appreciation for every piece, and is able to do so due to her vast knowledge on the background of each composer and piece. Personally, music theory has always been an area which I am weak in, but Ms Elena's teaching methods have made concepts easy to pick up and apply when doing the exercises and papers. Outside the classroom, there are also many performance opportunities, such as during the annual concert, as well as other events which the school is involved in.

Mr Darin is my violin teacher and Miss Elena is my piano teacher. I highly recommend both of them to anyone who wishes to learn the violin or piano for various reasons. Both of them are music graduates therefore both of them are definitely very well equipped with necessary knowledge to teach - both of them can answer almost any questions on technique, theory or musical composition. Moreover, both of them have many years of teaching experience, and I really felt my technique improve and I am happier with my playing than before. Caleb

It was definitely a blessing to have Ms Elena as the piano teachers for my two daughters. She is very effective in building a solid foundation in them through scales and études, and holding their interests with songs with progressive level of skills. She is demanding but yet very caring. She understands the limits and stamina of each student, so the children can learn at their manageable speed. I strongly recommend Ms Elena as the piano teacher to parents who would like to develop their children’s potential to the fullest and at the same time keeping their love and passion for music alive. Mr Darin has been successful in instilling the skills of hearing and checking for the correct intonation in young children right from the start. He has helped my daughter Hannah find the most comfortable and correct hand position and posture, which builds the strong foundation for future progress. Mr Darin is very patient with children and he teaches them clearly so the children can learn at home independently and confidently. I highly recommend Mr Darin as the violin teacher to children who take the violin learning seriously and want to become proficient players with solid foundations. That has helped my daughters gain more confidence and experience in public performance. I highly recommend the Studio to all who are interested in learning the relevant musical instruments.

Having spent a significant portion of my life as a competitive Electone player and performance-level pianist, and as a nationally endorsed educator myself, I immediately knew Mr. Darin is a true music educator the moment I became his pupil of violin since early 2020. Unlike the typical music teacher who would pretentiously prescribe and frivolously comment on piece after piece—year after year—in order to appear productive to parents but really just to pass time (indeed I’ve seen too many of those in my life), Mr. Darin offers music education in an authentic European style, and does so with outstanding integrity. In my situation, Mr. Darin knows exactly my violin-playing deficiencies, and would recommend only the most effective training and material in addressing them. His deep insights on how best to play the violin well have been nothing short of impressive. Unfortunately, in my own private observations, many self-centred parents and rude students continue to fail to appreciate Mr. Darin’s tireless effort. I should add that staff members at Musical Art Studio work cordially and collaboratively, who have all been very kind toward me as a student of the School.
