Dad's first brain surgery with another neurosurgeon was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, we wanted to improve Dad's quality of life. Thus, we visited Dr. Kon for a second opinion as we heard about his skill from a medical professional. Other neurosurgeons that we consulted with could not offer us any assurance in a successful outcome and even tried to dissuade us in taking another risk because of Dad's age. Dr. Kon was confident, however. Dr. Kon has been very compassionate and understanding. We spent about 2 hours with him during the first consultation - he took time to listen to us and addressed our concerns patiently. Further, Dad was given an extensive overview of the surgery and he knew what to expect during the DBS procedure - the knowledge has also been very helpful in putting our anxieties at bay. We feel Dr. Kon is a professional, passionate, kind and caring surgeon who puts his patients' interests first. We know Dad is in good hands. We will always be grateful for Dr. Kon and Angela for birthing hope in our hearts!

I have a surgery for Trigeminal Neuralgia with Dr kon. Dr kon is very patience and professionally explain the pre and post operation situations very clearly which make me very comfortable and reduce the pre-operation stress. My operation went according to our expectations and Dr kon's team handled the operation beautifully and smoothly without any unforeseen circumstances. On the administration side, Dr kon secretary handled the hospitalisation processes very promptly without any hiccups. I personally recommend Dr kon to anyone that are suffering the same kind of illness.

I am a Parkinson's Disease patient for more than 10 years. Last year, I am increasingly dependent on a frequent and high dosage of Madopar to control my moment difficulties. With this concern in mind, my Neurologist advised me to consider Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery (DBSS) and based on his recommendation, I met Dr Nicolas Kon Kam King three months ago. Prior to visiting Dr Kon, my family members and I have all done our parts to find out more regarding DBSS. My first experience with Dr Kon is his knowledge about the Surgery. He was able to address all our concerns and questions we brought forward to him. In his opinion, DBSS will address my problem by increasing my body flexibility and reduce my Madopar intake. With such assurance, I decided to go ahead with the Surgery as he being the Surgeon. When I write this message, it is exactly two months after my DBSS. At this moment, I have to give credit to Dr Kon in the few areas below: 1. What he mentioned to me regarding the impact of DBSS on me is true, what the Surgery will address are all accurately demonstrated on me now, his knowledge in DBSS is indeed solid. 2. The entire Surgery process was about 8 hours. It was operated as what Dr Kon described and planned. 3. At present, I am able to reduce my Madopar intake by 65% with an acceptable body mobility that is safe for me to perform my daily travel, on my own, to social with friends and perform my work. 4. DR Kon has monitored my recovery process closely. He ensures the proper follow-up. The DBSS done by Dr Kon has certainly changed my life. Comparing the pre- and post-operation, it was two different me. It was really a wonderful and certainly a very positive experience with Dr Kon. He delivers more than what he mentioned. I believe this is what the best a patient can receive from his doctor. Thank you Dr Kon! Vincent Chee, 21 Jan 2021

After suffering from Parkinson’s Disease (PD) for 8 years, I knew it was time to consider DBS surgery when my medication began to lose its efficacy. It goes without saying that the choice of neurosurgeon is critical. As deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery is a risky one, and this condition is a lifelong one even with the surgery, I knew I had to look for a neurosurgeon who was very competent, that I was comfortable with, and whom I could trust 100%. It was fortuitous that I was referred to Dr Nicolas Kon. During my first consultation, what struck me was how knowledgeable he was, how well he answered the many questions and concerns I had, and how much time he was willing to spend with his patients. Dr Kon ticked all the boxes for me - he had the right credentials, experience and outcomes and was of the right age – not too young, as experience is important, and not too old as agility of body and mind is equally important. Dr Kon made it a point to keep my family and I updated on my progress during the post-op / rehab period, demonstrating empathy and patience every step of the way. My family and I found him to be open, approachable and accessible. It has been 3Β½ months since the procedure, and my quality of life has improved significantly. I no longer suffer from the symptoms arising from the side effects of my PD medication. The tremors are almost all gone and I am β€œback to normal”. I would not wish this condition on anyone but should you or your loved one be suffering from PD, I would recommend that DBS surgery be considered as an option, and not to wait too long before undergoing DBS surgery as the condition will only worsen with time. Dr Kon is without a doubt a gifted surgeon and a wonderful physician and, in my opinion, the best neurosurgeon for the job. Angela is also the consummate professional. So a heartfelt β€œthank you” and my deepest appreciation to Dr Nicolas Kon and Angela for making my journey with PD so much more bearable.

Suffered from hemifacial spasm 6 years ago for 2 years. At that time, wrong diagnosis was given resulting in wasted time and money not to say the suffering I went through. The symptoms went into remission and recently came back. I am lucky to find Dr Kon whom immediately found the cause and arranged surgery. Immediately after surgery, there was so much improvement and 1 month after surgery, there was basically no more spasm. Thanks to Dr Kon and team!

My wife was diagnosed with PD in 2012. Since then, her symptoms had deteriorated year after year, and she had to keep increasing her dosage of Madopar to control her condition. In November 2021, she was taking 1,250mg of Madopar tablets plus Comtan and Requid daily. Her medication frequency also increased from 6-hourly in December 2020 to 3-hourly in November 2021 to minimise the β€˜OFF’ state. Even with such a high dosage, she was still experiencing fluctuations between β€˜ON’ and β€œOFF’ medication states, and she also had unpredictable medication effects. During the β€˜OFF’ state, she was unable to perform most of the living activities such as washing, dressing, mobility, etc. Worst still, she had serious side effects from the high dosage, including depression and panic attacks which occurred almost every day starting from November 2021. Her quality of life was no longer acceptable because the medication was no longer addressing the symptoms. Her doctor suggested DBS surgery to control her condition. My wife and I consulted Dr Nicolas Kon on 14 December 2021. During that first consultation, we found Dr Kon a very knowledgeable and experienced surgeon for DBS. He was very patient in understanding my wife’s condition, listening to her problems and answering our questions in great detail. We decided on the same day to go for DBS surgery which took place on 18 December 2021, four days after the consultation. We are very grateful to Angela for making the last minute arrangements for the surgery. It has been 5 weeks since the DBS surgery. As at 24 January 2022, her medication has been reduced by 50%. Dr Kon is still monitoring the settings of the DBS system and we believe we can further reduce her medication. Now, her quality of life has improved significantly. With the reduced medication, she has no more β€˜OFF’ time. She can plan her activities and is confident to go out for sports, meals and shopping with her friends without family members needing to accompany her along. She has not had panic attacks since the DBS surgery. This was not possible before. We are very grateful to Dr Kon for his professionalism and recommendation. He is a very caring, approachable and accessible doctor who spends time to understand and monitor my wife’s condition and problems before and after surgery. We would not hesitate to recommend PD patients with similar symptoms to consult Dr Kon for advice. Once again, thank you very much, Dr Kon. We are very glad to have you as my wife’s DBS surgeon.
