It looks pretty old at first and give a not so good impression, but it is actually a very comfortable boarding school even like a second home.

At first while being assigned to Keter Duty as a Senior I was mortified how would i survive the dreaded 106? Yet I've found that the experience of crunching femurs has greatly enhanced my will to live. 10/10 Would Die in the Dark so you can live the Light again Pictured below SCP 106

Pros: - Accommodation is relatively cheap (about $27 a day) - Located in NUS High School (if you study there) Cons: - Food is mediocre at best and terrible at worst - Facilities are in a state of disrepair. Frequent blackouts, fire alarm malfunctions that wake you up in the middle of the night, fans that are not working, doors that don't close properly, faulty locks etc. Expect to need to repair furniture and appliances in your room frequently. - Inflexible, restrictive, and frankly unreasonable, rules, e.g. "sleep or study" after 11PM, and daily 9.05 PM roll calls. Staff do not give boarders any exemptions from these rules even when they have a genuine need for them. - Draconian punishments, like a $20 fine for losing a plastic lanyard, and "hourly reports" which ban you from leaving the school compound on a weekend. - The free laundry service often loses clothing items, and tends to use excessive amounts of bleach. - I have heard rumors of, but not personally seen, boarding staff having discriminatory attitudes towards certain boarders. Unless you absolutely need the cheapest possible accommodation, I would not recommend NUS High Boarding School to anyone. Try looking for a room to rent in the area or stay in one of the other boarding schools in Singapore.

Unreasonable mentors who think that their own children are humans but seem like others are not and ridiculous rules. Definitely will not recommend unless for some special reasons such as distance from school or cheap accommodation. Anyways, the food is disgusting with unfriendly vendors

Nus high boarding is a wonderful place to live in. The people there are really nice and friendly. All the adults are extremely kind and provided a tremendous amount of help to me as I moved in. The bed is super comfortable and is comparable to a 5 star hotel one. Once I got an back muscle exercise from sleeping on it. Really trains me for pull up. The mattress is also beneficial to my physical fitness, as every time I change my bedsheet, I work out my core muscles and upper body. The roll call system is an ingenious one. I had to get out of my bed at 9.05 for 30 secs just to scan my fingerprint everyday. This trains the spirit of perseverance as well as micro managing your finger. My record is failing 13 times in a row. Missing this will result in a free tea drinking session with the friendly people there. Speaking of the fingerprint scanner, you need many friends in boarding, especially when you get rejected by the TV room scanner numerous times. The mouth watering delicacies prepared there have successfully made me lose weight. This is in line with the IPPT test training for boys. Extra proteins were also given in the form of Ectognatha. Supplementary metal ions were also found in the chicken. They help me organize my clothes and help me throw out those which are not wearable. The fixtures there are also extreme stable. Once, my fan blew my worksheet into the deathly abyss between the bed and the wall, and I enjoyed another session of physical training to pull the bed to get the worksheet out. The position of the wardrobe mirror is also excellent, as it provides a first class view of the toilet without getting out of your bed, as well as a medium of light emanating from the toilet onto your bed. The lift has one of the smartest algorithms I have ever seen in my life. Once, I was on the 6th floor wanting to go down. Both lifts were at level 5 and neither was moving. After around 10 seconds, the first lift went down and the second lift went up to 10th floor. It must be really caring of them to implement such a system to encourage us to take the stairs. Overall, boarding is a really enjoyable place to live in and I recommend everyone to give it a try!

No air conditioning, poor facilities (I personally suffer during this pandemic, and always try my best to stay outside as long as possible), oily and salty food (hairs or even insects are found in it), poor WiFi signal (each floor are supposed to have three wifi modems, the one outside my room is spoilt, even though there's email sent to the boarding school, nothing has been done, they've no intend in fixing it) although some of the stuff in the boarding are nice and friendly and responsible (BUT ya SOME only lol) #during this pandemic, we, the boarders are not allowed to go out that often (exit permits are required) but what we see everyday is that the guest that stays in the hostel/ the teachers and their families are always going in and out of hostel (students are not allowed, but the rest are allowed?)

Laundry service - very nice laundry auntie who offers lots of help - can send unlimited clothes - open from morning to evening three days a week - irons(free) - washing machines and drying machines (4 washing machines and 2 drying machines for each gender) (S$0.5 which is the cheapest I’ve found so far. The machines are also very new and offer different modes) Food - many choice of meat and vegetables (3 choice of meat and at least 4 choices of vegetables (sometimes steamed corns, sweet potatoes, egg are offered)) - food is not so good but at least you get free flow rice - soup is offered every lunch and dinner (porridge is offered on weekends) - breakfast is the best. There are at least 5 options (bread, fried rice, bee hoon, burgers, buns, eggs) There are also free flow drinks (soy milk, milk, milo, tea and coffee) and free flow bread (there is baker and 4 types of wipes - butter/peanut butter/jam/kaya) - special offer on every Monday is really good whereby you can get really special meals like prongs, duck, large burgers (with tomato slice, lettuce, fried egg, cheese and beef) - different noodle options on Tuesday and sometimes really delicious porridge on Wednesday - many different kinds of fruits offered, including dragon fruits, papaya, muskmelons and really sweet watermelon slices - many different kinds of desserts offered, including different flavours of jelly, ice cream, and other kinds quantity of food is quite enough and you can get second offerof sweet soup - quantity of food is quite enough and you can get second offer - you can eat at NUS High canteen (same place as the hostel canteen) where food is cheap and nice (esp the cold drink stall and cafe) - supper offered every night during school terms(bread, muffin, buns, fruits, donuts and others) - pantry supply every month whereby every cluster get one large bag of snacks (cookie, milo powder, coffee powder, cereal drink) Other services - free toilet paper, newspaper, detergent, soap, washing sponge that you can get from the office - relatives of boarders can stay in student rooms (cheap but no air-con) or guest rooms (expensive with air-con, some more expensive with kitchen (cooker and cutlery provided also)) Location - very near to Sheng Siong(24 hrs supermarket), clinics and hawker centre(less than 600m) - very near to NUS where you can study, play basketball, eat at their canteen (almost same price as hawker centre but food is nicer) - 3 bus stops away from Clementi mall (MRT station, movie theatre, shopping mall, and lots of convenient stores) - 1 MRT station away from Jurong East where you can find most of things you need and there is Singapore’s only skating rink Rooms - design for rooms are really good so you have more than enough space for all your things (many racks and large drawers) - all rooms are two-people rooms Others - most staff are really nice - the hostel operates very efficiently as there are different people in charge of different things - very safe as there are security guards at the school gate and the hostel gate. You need to scan your fingerprints before you enter the hostel as well as you enter your cluster

The wifi here is extremely frustrating and severely affects learning experiences. It’s incomprehensible that in such a modern and connected world, the internet connecting here resembled that of the middle age, literally non existent! Many feedback has been given yet none concrete has been done to improve the situation. Really disappointed!
