Original Botak Jones - 118 Depot Ln

Generous serving portions, you can taste the smokiness of the chicken. Nicely done and the chicken was not dry. They had many sides to choose from.

James L "would go back" verdict: A definite NO. Last night, I decided to travel all the way down to Depot Ln hoping for some good authentic burgers at Botak Jones. After finishing the meal, I was determined to give my review of this place so here goes. $15 (with GST) for a basic botak burger set isn't cheap. The quality is mediocre and taste was disappointing. Everything on my plate tasted like what you can get at a low quality western food stall in some deserted food centre. The cajun crinkle cut fries was actually bland, no amount of chili sauce could save it. The salad was some chopped up greens accompanied with some cheap thousand island sauce. The coleslaw tasted like it came out from some plastic bucket and the cheese potato was a bowl of mash with cheese on top. Now let's get to the burger, the patty was thick, but that is as much as I can say about it. I was hoping for some charred grilled taste but all I got was grey looking meat with some grilled lines which fell apart when I cut into it (I should have taken a photo of it). The cheese was tasteless, the sesame bun felt like it was made in some large mass production factory. Just to qualify this review, no, I'm not suffering from covid which has robbed me of my tastebuds, because for my dinner tonight, I decided to visit the western grill stall downstairs my block and bought myself a Monster Beef Burger which I paid $8.90 that comes with two tasty sides. 5 stars to the chain stall cos it is good and value for money.

Order their chicken Cajun lunch promo.. affordable price.. the chicken for their lunch promotion is smaller than the normal chicken Cajun hence the lower in price. Ordered 1 each to compare the price.. I find that the sides are nicer than the chicken..

Went back to give Botak Jones another try and boy did I enjoy the food. Ordered the Botak Burger, the beef patty was thick and juicy, the fries were so crispy and the coleslaw was crunchy! Portion was huge! Love it.

Had really good memories of the food from years ago but unfortunately, this visit did not live meet the expectations. Jalapeños - was the best dish, although it could use more cheese as it did in the past Lamp chop - was decent but nothing to rave for $30 Chicken chop - too thin and too dry. Really disappointing.

Ordered black pepper chicken with cajun fries and coleslaw as sides. Additional cheese potato above. Firstly, the black pepper chicken is a no for me, too much black pepper until it's too spicy, i can't taste anything else. Meat is tender though. Sides are damn good, the portion is still that much. The cheese potato is the best, baked with cheese to perfection. Will come back again to try the other menus.

Slightly pricier than regular western places but the portion makes up for it. The fries are a bit spicy but very tasty! The Cajun chicken would have been nicer without the cheese as the cheese hardens real quick.

Great to see Botak Jones made a comeback. The portions were really huge. Taste was decent but food quality was, unfortunately, lacking. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the prices were missing on the menu or maybe they were just not conspicuous.
