β β β β β Super bad school , most of the teacher left and the principal taking over don't know how to teach . Price not worth only 3 to 1.5 hour per subject for private candidates. Think carefully don't get cheat on . (Most teacher is fresh graduate)

β β β β β Dear Teachers@penciltutor, I should have posted this when I got my o level results but I was just too busy with the jae and open house talks. I've finally made it to jc and I wanted to say thank you to all of you. Thanks to all the hours of motivation and wonderful teaching. I miss my time there and I will come back some day after I get my degree. ?

β β β β β This place is a JOKE! The principal is treating his βschoolβ as a hobby, he is basically roleplaying to be the principal. This βschoolβ is not even a school, its basically a tuition centre located in a run down plaza and a HDB block, the school also felt neglected, place is filthy and falling apart, like disintegrating to pieces. All the good teachers left for OBVIOUS reasons, so far only maybe 3 full time teachers are handling all the subjects and they are the ones keeping this sinking ship afloat! The schoolβs management donβt give a damn about the studentβs progress, we donβt even recieve a report slip for mid year and prelim exams.
The practicals are a nightmare, they are not relevant to the actual O level practical. Chemistry practical was basic and very static not enough cover everything. There is also no practical exams for prelim.
Overall, you are better off buying guide books and ten year series to self study, or spend your $3k - $7k and hire a tuition teacher for subjects you need help with!

β β β β β PencilTutor has failed to meet basic expectations.
It offers a full time standard programme(at least $3k) disguised as tuition for several subjects and a really poor one at that. Unlike proper secondary schools, there is only one lesson per subject each week. This makes it very difficult to follow up for the next lesson, and the weaker students are disoriented. A poorly planned timetable with too many unhelpful changes can really change your attitude towards learning. PencilTutor has sadly already proven that right.
Studying at PencilTutor has left many of us here distracted and distraught.
A great teacher(Ms P.Q.) had to leave us and another teacher had to reschedule our lesson to Sunday. We students deserve to know why all these has to happen, but this principal refused to let us know and threw us letters with no real explanation for our parents to read.

On Science practicals
Very disappointing.
We only got to do experiments in the last two weeks before the o level practical. Having practical classes monthly would have been more effective. Teachers are forced to teach practical classes for the whole day.
Secondary schools have a
much better sense of how to prepare students properly for O 's. I strongly do not recommend going to penciltutor. Quality tuition, with consistent self-study, is much more worth your money, time and effort.

β β β β β No system in place whatsoever to track the progress and education received by students. There are no contingency plans when teachers leave the school (which occurs frequently in a year itself). The pool of teachers are apparently very small (about 2-3 full timers before any teachers left, and 1-2 part timers who only teach tuition in the evenings). The full timers are expected to teach a handful of subjects at two locations.
This leads to a very messy timetable with many changes made throughout the year, and there is a lack of free slots for teachers to conduct any effective make-up lessons (if any) for all students. Students are expected to make many sacrifices from their personal schedules (such as work), or else they are either reimbursed after much compromise. However, such a compromise puts the students at a disadvantage and is not helpful for their O Levels.
On more than one occasion, lessons, tuition classes, and one particular practical session, were forgotten, delayed, postponed, or cancelled by the principal who was supposed to conduct these lessons.
As for the practical sessions, it seems that there were only mostly the basic chemicals provided. Some have incomplete chemicals/apparatus and thus, students were unable to perform these experiments. When a perusal of the worksheets given were made, the depth of the questions across the Sciences were found to be less than satisfactory for the price that was paid. It seems that there is no quality control. Also, most of the practical lessons were held on the weeks of O level listening comprehension which was very disruptive to the schedules of the students.
Lastly, as seen from the company's responses to reviews, it seems that a name has to be presented for 'validation' purposes. Unfortunately, it would also allow a business to retaliate against a reviewer who found their services less than desirable. It is preferred that such potential risk is eliminated. Also, there is not much that can be rectified for the students if an identity is given, given that the O level exams is already launched. Hence, this review will serve, hopefully either as a precaution for others, or as pointers for severe improvements in the future for the establishment concerned.

β β β β β Real value with money!! My kid really enjoys the class and she always come back and tell me how her teacher goes the extra mile to clarify her doubts which her school teacher did not even. Definitely recommending them to any parents out there.

β β β β β Hi guys. I've had tuition here for some time. Notes are good and teachers are good too. The revision class we had last week was fantastic. The concept maps really helped me for my EOY exams. The mnemonics was funny and creative!

β β β β β Joined the English Tuition Class since April 2018. Teacher is patient and will go in detail on how to answer, tackle the questions and teaches you stuff that were covered briefly in MOE schools in detail. The guidance and patience motivate me to come and attend classes regularly and excel on my weakest subject. Lastly, there is no age restriction for students who want to retake O Level and attend tuition class after theyβve completed their tertiary education. Would also strongly recommend it as the price is affordable for students.
