I superlove mala but this is really bad... i dont know why the review is so high and why it is rated one of the best mala in chinatown, but it doesnt even taste like mala seriously?! Its not even spicy, and not numb either. I dont recall her asking what spiciness i want too. There is also this really herbally or a certain spice taste which destroys the entire dish. Perhaps is some other region type of mala, but if you are looking for spicy and really "MA-LA", this place is a nono... The only reason for additional 1 star is because the portion is rather huge. But then again, it doesnt come cheap either. This bowl was about $26++ for 2 pax..

There are 2 stages to ordering, first is the veggies and second is the meat. The first auntie sounded quite annoyed (I guess it's tiring to repeat yourself to every new customer! but maybe they should include a note on the ordering procedure to avoid this) when we mistakenly tried to order meat first. The meal was affordable and flavourful but very salty and oily.

Probably one of the cheapest and tastiest mala. Don't over order as the portion is big. Must tell them for how many pax. For 2 adults normally costs around $12-$15 with beef, broccoli, luncheon meat, mushrooms, and another 1 to 2 more vegetables. Queue may be long at times but fast moving. Great place for mala.

Service : there will be people to help pick your items due to pandemic Food : 4/5 solid Not the best mala I’ve had but I’m pretty sure a solid one. Price per portion is worth your penny. Vegetables are as fresh as it can get. Broccoli and morning glory just soaks up the sauces well. The noodles is a must. It is cooked Al-dente. Springiness just hits right. Aside from that I wished my luncheon meat and lotus roots to be deep fried. Otherwise as good as it can get.

Food taste: 2/5 The service is bad. Meaning, the lady took portion randomly and charge us. Usually, it cost about 20-24 dollars at other places for two pax. But it cost us 30 dollars. Also, definitely not the best Mala Xiang Guo. The spice is ok but flavour isn’t great. For the first time we didn’t even bother to finish the bowl. Also, the noodles became small pieces when served and chicken gizzards were too dry and tasteless. Highly wouldn’t recommend for you to come Chinatown intentionally to eat.

Price hike of at least 30%. Also dishonest now. Told her everything for 1 portion except for the pork belly which I asked for 2 portions, came up to $27.50. Complained that it was so expensive and she told me in Mandarin, tell me what you don’t want I’ll reduce. I replied that I wanted one portion of everything except the pork belly, what’s there to reduce? Then she OH, the pork intestine is 2 portions and then remove some intestines and reduced the bill to $23.50. Quite cheesed off, used to be my favourite Mala store due to its wide variety and affordable prices but not anymore. Definitely going somewhere else to eat when in Chinatown.

Picked the food for 3 pax but it the stall owner took the ingredient for 4 pax. Ended $30++ for a bowl of malapot but worst it was very salty, full of watery salty gravy. Standard has dropped drastically. You can find better mala hotpot at many other places.
