Sequoia Sake SG - 47 Neil Rd

Well-priced sakes, welcoming ambience, and familiar tunes. Have always enjoyed myself here! Also try the gin with umeshu! It's quite delightful!

Sake selection is value range and quite limited in terms of styles and grades. Ambience is casual with loud music. Perhaps due to Covid situation, they seem to be understaffed. Manager/owner was busy with laptop work, talking to friends, the preparation of food. The other server was young and inexperienced. Ordered a bottle of sake which turned out to be spoilt. (Ozeki are good producers, issue is usually with transport and storage). Raised this to the younger server, which he relayed to manager. Had to wait 15mins before calling out the younger server again to check if we can do something about the spoilt sake. Manager didn't had any suggestions so I asked if he's willing to change a bottle for us which he did. Felt that the service recovery could be done better and with a bit more urgency. Night ended without much service from the staff. Unlikely to return, and hope they'll be able to take in feedback to improve.
