My advice to anyone out there who is planning to get a Personal Accident Policy from Sompo Singapore, think thrice! I've encountered bad experience from the way they handle my hand injury medical claim followed by a fall last year. I've submitted my 1st claim on 17 Aug 2020 and have subsequently visited specialist clinics in NUH for further treatment. On doctor's advice, I've informed Sompo Singapore that my injury might take a long healing process and Sompo Singapore assured me that they will keep the file opened for 12 months for follow up treatment claims. In June 2021, my hand injury relapsed and I tried to make an appointment with NUH and due to the Pandemic, the earliest appointment I could get was on 30th Aug 2021. I couldn't get any earlier date than this. Immediately after my treatment on 30th Aug 2021, I've submitted my claim to Sompo Singapore and was later turned down based on their standard claim allowance of 12 months from the date of my 1st claim submission. My follow up claim was 14 days too late. Though I've explained to them about the long NUH appointment booking and I couldn't get any earlier date for the treatment. Sompo Singapore once again declined my appeal, based on their SOP. Sompo Singapore is not flexible and do not weigh the situation when it comes to handling customers' claim. DO NOT GET ANY POLICY FROM Sompo Singapore if you want a better service than what Sompo Singapore could provide. BYE BYE Sompo Singapore!

There is a reason why their price is lower than the rest. I bought their personal accident insurance for my whole family. I have tried to claim for small amounts before and the process was ok. However, I made a claim recently around in April. This amount was slightly higher. No follow up until I emailed in June. Someone responded and requested some hard copy documents. There was again no response after I mailed over the hardcopy documents. I called in July and realize the person in charged had left. No proper handover! After awhile, someone followed up and asked for more documents in August. It was so tiring to deal with them just for a simple claim.

Worse insurance company when it comes to claim. When you pay they happily collect premium. Once you make claims, they will try their best to make things difficult for you.

I recently purchased travel insurance from Sompo and had a terrible experience with them. This is the FIRST and LAST I’ll buy from them. The worst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. They made every excuse to avoid paying out. My luggage went missing at the airport and was damaged after it was returned. After I filed a claim with Sompo, they refused to pay me for luggage damage and honour the policy. They insisted on proof/documents that I had first tried to seek compensation for damage from the airport. So I explained to the Claims manager that my luggage had gone missing when I arrived in the other country, and that my immediate concern at that point in time was β€˜where is my luggage?’. I had to lodge a complaint of my missing luggage at the airport as that was more urgent at the time. After I explained this, the Claims Manager provided endless excuses to avoid paying out what was owed to me. This is unscrupulous. I have dealt with other insurance providers whose claims process was reasonable and fair. I do not recommend Sompo. For the same price or less, you can find better insurance providers who are fair to their customers. Avoid Sompo at all costs. Once bitten twice shy.

Very slow response when you claim the bill. And there is no response about the progress of your claim is like they keep on delaying and didn't give you firm confirmation or answer if you can claim or not. I have claim since march till now didn't get where is the progress of my claim and if i can claim or not. Next time i won't buy again.

I will not even rate Sompo with any stars their service doesn’t deserve any stars. I shall name Sompo as β€˜Sampah’ meaning RUBBISH in malay. You pay them to insure but they give u rubbish service when you make a claim. It has been 4 months since I returned to Singapore from Saudi Arabia. I made a claimed because I was infected with Covid-19 during my trip. The staff that handle my claim is Raymond Kang. He took 4 months to informed me that he cannot read/opened the attachment of docs I fwd to him. Request to resubmit in pdf when that was the exact format I submitted. Just an excused after such long delay and get shouted by me over the phone. My claim is yet to be finalised and I will not give up to push Raymond Kang to expedite the process. I definitely does not recommend Sompo to anyone out there. Really a disaster to make your claim after your holiday. They are just a group of scammer!!

Horrible claims experience. My luggage was stolen in France. That was traumatic enough but the French police don't speak English and I have a bus to catch to Switzerland so I headed over. Police there did a report and said the insurance company have to contact them to receive the list. Sompo customer service was just slow and unhelpful. A few back and forth with no resolution. Looks like I not only gotten a stolen luggage but wasted hundreds of dollars on this unclaimable insurance.

Sompo doesn't deserve even 1 star. It's the worst insurance company I ever dealt with. I filed a claim on baggage damage during my recent travel. For a simple and small amount claimed I was asked to provide so many documents(Already provided them all except baggage receipt) . Unless the baggage is newly bought otherwise who would still keep the receipt?? It has been 2 weeks and still I don't get my claim. The claim process is super slow and unreasonable for such a small amount and I wonder how are they going to handle big claims like hospitalised/accident/death cases. Buy insurance should be for a peace of mind but not giving us more troubles when we need the coverage. This is my first and last time buying sompo insurance. Please avoid sompo at all cost.
