Excellent place to understand about history, heritage and culture. The volunteer guides and staff are fantastic in terms of being helpful and knowledgeable. The current exhibition on the evolution of female fashion in China and the region is quite fascinating.

Must visit this interesting museum in this 2-storey colonial villa in Balestier, on the life of Dr Sun Yat Sen in Singapore. Also known as "Wan Qing Yuan", this is Dr Sun's residence and operational base whenever he visited Singapore. This is the same villa where Dr Sun established the Singapore branch of "Tong Meng Hui" or the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance in 1906. Wan Qing Yuan became Dr Sun Yat Sun’s headquarters in Nanyang (Singapore) for the propagation of his revolutionary ideas. Sun Yat Sun Nanyang Memorial Hall is located behind Zhongzhan Shopping Mall / Zhongzhan Park, and designated as one of the must-visit places in the Balestier Heritage Trail. Free Entry for Singaporeans.

Fantastically well maintained property, with 3 Levels to the exhibits which are wonderfully curated from start to finish. Dr. Sun's story and contributions are very well told in an un-biased and factual manner throughout. I highly recommend spending the time to visit this Memorial when you can. Entry is free for Singaporeans and PRs. $8 for all other pass-holders and visitors.

A treat to come in the night... The serenity of this place is uncanny and it's an experience like no other. Do take some time to play the swings and imagine how it was like for our ancestors years ago. A place of history. Do take note that there isn't any car park in the hall so you'll have to park nearby if you drive over.

Walked pass this building for years but only got down to visiting this place recently. It houses information on the struggles & journeys of Dr Sun Yat-Sen and the Tungmenghui. how Singapore played a part in helping to organize, fund the uprisings in China. The use of multimedia and technology makes the exhibits livelier. There’re smaller revolving exhibits running alongside the major exhibition. It’s a nice place to visit if you have the time and are interested in Chinese and local history. The surrounding neighbour hood, Balestier is rich in local history & great for pottering around. There’s plenty of bak kut teh and chicken rice to sample too if you need some food to refuel!

Nice quiet villa to learn about Singapore's role in helping Sun Yat Sen with his revolution. The museum also documents a wider narrative of the Chinese community in Singapore from colonial times till 1950s. The side exhibit on Nian Hua showcases vibrant woodblock prints that reflects on Chinese mythology, beliefs and folk customs. It is a refreshing spin on the Chinese cultural heritage.
