★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The photo has signage banning photography and video. The ladies absolutely do not allow any photos and will not hesitate to scold if they catch anyone seeing them ladle the coconut gravy from the depths of their pot.
The portions are very small so most people will have to have at least two bowls for a meal . A dollar for extra beansprouts etc . Yes , this is a genuine continuation of a street hawker but there is absolutely no need to treat customers like they are beggars dying to eat a bowl of laksa to their forefather's recipe.
Their take it or leave it attitude really spoils a meal , no matter how delicious , or how traditional

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Old Sch style Laksa at it's very best. Expect a short wait but well worth it. The chaocoal stove is one of the tell tale signs that recipe had not change much with the passage of time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not to be confused with the Michelin Bib listed Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa at Hong Lim, the Sungei Road Laksa here is cut and served only with a spoon with generous amounts of cockles, fish cakes, bean sprouts and topped with shredded laksa leaves.
The orange gravy is light with tastes and aroma of spices and coconut milk. At $4.00 I think it’s good but not great

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Two different experiences, though overall still a good bowl of laksa.
First time came and was the first in queue and ordered take-away. Oh my the charcoal taste is evident in it, and the cockles were big and very fresh which is very hard to find.
Second time came slightly after noon time and dine in. This time round, portion is very small and cockles were much smaller, though still fresh.
Perhaps better timing would be to come earlier. What do you think?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Average laksa. Good for people who likes light aromatic gravy and stronger coconut taste. Generous serving of Hum but $4 is a little pricey for its portion.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This laksa is totally a comfort food for cold weather. Serving is just nice if you are a small eater. Although the gravy is more on the milky side, I love the big fresh cockles! (After note: I do get thirsty after gulping the entire bowl of gravy) Would still recommend this place if you feel like having a bowl of yummy traditional laksa - served with only thick beehoon and eat using spoon only.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited on Saturday 25-Jun-2022 around 12pm
Not very long queue.
The taste is more on salty.
Using charcoal to cook or heat up gravy.
Look so special.
For take away, No separate packing of gravy and noodles.
Personally, this one is not my favorite.
If you like The Original Katong Laksa (Janggut Laksa)正宗加东叻沙, forget about this one.
But, no harm trying.
Who know...
maybe you like this taste.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place came recommended and did not disappoint. We had our first laksa here and loved it. They come with everything included, so you need to specify if you don't want cockles (for example).
The portion is just the right size for lunch on a hot day and the price is beyond reasonable.
If you are visiting Singapore, come here.
