The Alternative Story (Parkway Centre) - 1 Marine Parade Central

The teachers in Parkway branch were very professional in their teaching. My son had learnt a lot from both teacher Joanne and teacher Joyce throughout his journey in TAS, Covid 19 really gave me an eye opener for their lesson taught online. (Was sitting at a corner while my son was having online lessons) The lessons taught were engaging and interactive. Never had I seen maximum participation of the students during an online session. Teacher Joanne was able to ensure all her students gets individual attention and also she gave lots of encouragement to them during this period. I am glad that I made a right choice 3 years ago.

I switched my boy to The Alternative Story (TAS) at Parkway Centre when he was in Primary 5, as I didn't see much improvement in his English in the previous tuition centre. Despite charging at a more reasonable pricing, my boy's English improved tremendously and he was very motivated and scored well for his school examinations and PSLE subsequently. I am thankful that I made the decision to enroll him into TAS, and especially so to Teacher Joanne who had been very dedicated, committed and patient in her guidance to him. I highly recommend TAS and Teacher Joanne to those who are looking for a good tuition centre for English for their children.

With raving recommendations from a mummy friend, I enrolled my son in The Alternative Story at Parkway Centre when he started primary 4. The entire learning experience was a fabulous and a positive mind changing one! Under teacher Yvonne’s patient coaching and guidance, my son pivoted from no interest to highly interested in the English subject. And with his interest blooming, his confidence in the language and grades improved alongside as well. We are extremely grateful to Teacher Yvonne. Her teaching methods are thorough, engaging and enlivening. She also goes the extra mile to ensure every student in her class understands and knows how to apply new rules and concepts taught, regardless of their varying standards. I know that as my son started out as one of the weakest in class. My son looks forward to going for teacher Yvonne’s class every week. That in itself is a great outcome! Now I have also signed my younger daughter to start her at The Alternative Story next year. Last but not least, the receptionist and even the Aunty cleaners have been wonderful, attending to all sort of queries parents like myself have and keeping the centre pristine clean in this tough covid situation. Cheers and do keep up the positive energy and magic!

My boy was just attending the creative writing trial lesson with Tr Chester. I was impressed by his passion for students. The extra mile he took, convinced me that Tr Chester is dedicated and truly wants to help and see his students excel in their learning. It was with explicit comments - both the language and the content aspects that the compo written during the trial was marked. Tr Chester even asked for correction draft 1 to be done for his marking. Unfortunately, due to last-minute changes in the school schedule, my boy will not be able to continue in Tr Chester's lesson after the trial. Despite knowing that, Tr Chester offers help regardless. He even asked for 2-3 past written compo from my child so that he can better advise for improvement. Thank you Tr Chester. Keep the passion and energy going for your students at TAS!

According to my girl, learning is fun and interesting here at The Alternative Story(TAS) unlike other tuition centres. She chose this centre after 5 different centre trials and after 3 years at other tuition centres which did not really provide her with a good learning journey. Although we hope for a smaller class for P2 but even with a class size of 10 students, Teacher Yvonne still pays attention to each student. She is patient and makes the lesson engaging. She notices the areas that my girl is weak at and provides us parents with the tips that we need to help my girl improve. Feedback on homework is also given and especially helpful. The notes and worksheets given are structured and concise, easy to refer to. My girl looks forward to attending each week's lesson unlike other previous tuition centres. She even hopes she can follow up with the same class till PSLE. Thank you Teacher Yvonne and TAS.

Enrolled my girl into their online creative class. The class conducted was not only interesting but also stimulating and engaging for the students. It is a real creative writing class where the teacher, Tr Aaron really stimulate the students' minds to develop and create good stories together during the class hours. Good phrases and sentences are being taught during the classes and the teacher do quizzes with the students to motivate them to recall what they have learnt. It is a fun and mind engaging 2 hours session for my girl every week.

The experience with TAS has exceeded my expectations. My daughter has shown a significant improvement in her writing abilities since I signed her up with TAS five months ago. Her school teacher has shared that there is a great jump in her writing abilities and she uses meaningful phrases to describe situations, weather and feelings now, beyond what is needed for her level. She has been attending online classes with Teacher Yvonne due to the pandemic. I was initially sceptical about the effectiveness of an online English enrichment class for a 8 year old with a short attention span and was pleasantly surprised when TAS proved me wrong. Having her classes online allowed me an opportunity to observe her lessons, I was impressed with the quality of the materials, structure and delivery of the lessons. Teacher Yvonne engages the students, livens up the learning atmosphere with jokes and laughter whilst delivering the lesson objectives effectively. Additionally, I was able to better support my daughter’s learning journey as Teacher Yvonne kept me closely updated on the key takeaways of the lessons and areas that she needed more support. Thank you, Teacher Yvonne! I am pleased with the progress and look forward to my daughter’s continued improvement with TAS!

My boy has been with teacher Yvonne for about 6 months, I can see that he has improved and progressed through these few months in terms of grammar and techniques in composition writing. Teacher Yvonne has a lot of patience as she takes the time to review his work and provide weekly feedback. She identifies and provides guidance on areas where improvements could be made. My boy enjoys her lesson very much as she always encourage him to do better each time. I am very happy that I have found the right teacher for my boy ??.
