★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought the rum and rasin, carrot cake and strawberry cake. The rum rasin butter cake is nice. Not too sweet and taste like homemade with the most down to earth ingredients. Texture is homemade too. So if you are expecting the silky soft cake, this is not for you. Carrot cake is really good! Flavourful and nicely dense. Will definitely go back for the carrot cake. Strawberry cake is so so. Nothing memorable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Luckily I called to see if they have their chempedak cake as it was left with the last loaf. Requested to reserve for me as I will be on my way to collect it. Although it was a little too sweet for my liking, the cake was moist and I can taste the pulp of the chempedak. This shows that they use the real fruit to enhance the taste. Overall would say is worth the trip down. My next target in my next order- Rum and Raisin :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ All their cakes are nice and beautiful. The shop offers many flavours but I personally love their almond cake. I was upset when their shop was closed during CB but last week after CB was slightly lifted for some businesses, I finally got to eat their almond cake. Will eat other flavours soon!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My sister first mentioned this place to me sometime back. It's a short drive away in a place I've become most accustomed to, because it's near the Hainanese Market, where the family hangs out.
I've always believed that the best makan is often found hidden in the heartlands, and draped in plain non-descript decor, and The Butter Cake shop fits smack into this mold!
The nice owner-baker says he uses real butter and not margarine, and one bite into his butter-cakes is proof of this. None of that 'palmy' thin margarine flavour, but instead, sinfully rich, oily buttery, slightly salty goodness. The crisp outer shells give in to moist, flavourful insides, and for the cakes I bought, fruity, and chocolatey flavours!
And You know the best part of the cakes here? It's their neighbourhood-heartland prices!
I love the cakes here, and from now on, it'll be where I get mine??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today I bought two marble cakes n had tried a slice of the cake which found to be dry and crumbly leaving the plastic box rather messy. One must use a plate when eating. I hope they will improve in this though the cake does taste homemade.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Carrot cake. Dense and flavourful. Not the spice type. Sweet frosting. S$3.50 a piece. Would prefer if the walnut was toasted to give it more crunch. But overall, delicious and satisfying. Packed in a triangle plastic box that you can squeeze closed. Looks good as a birthday cake too. Will buy again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just had a piece of their Apple and Cinnamon slice. Oh my word - moist, dense, flavourful, well textured bite, almost like kueh lapis. Haven't had such a tasty treat in a very long while. And one that doesn't break the bank. Looking forward to trying the rest but I am pretty sure they will not disappoint. 6 freakin' stars!!
