The Fat Mammoth - 49 Jln Besar

This is a very interesting fusion bar/restaurant in the edge of Little India. Portions are huge - although it meant for one person plate- it feels more like a 2 person sharing dish. Taste of the food has a fusion pub like feel - very tasty , robust & honest. It seems most of the food are meant to accompany the beer towers which is the special in the restaurant. I like that the food are all original fusion dishes with Thai, Korean, western influences. Ambience is actually great- unpretentious, and almost feels like your neighbourhood fusion pub or izakaya. Would recommend to friends who likes a bit more rowdy atmosphere with better than usual pub fare. There is a pretty snazzy bar on 2nd floor which offers ( i hope) more varieties of cocktails & alcoholic selections than on ground floor. The wait staff are super friendly, and have loads of personality! Just like the place.

Was simply walking down the street when their decor caught my attention. The staff Louis was friendly and helpful and guided us to the 2nd floor. The space was unexpectedly well done up and gave off a chill vibe. Cosy and ideal for a date and gathering with friends if you enjoy decently priced drinks, good choice of thai food, pleasant service and IG-worthy decor. Coming back again next week to chill.

Guys the Chicken rice ball uncle opposite coffee shop had move there. You can have steamboat and Traditional Chicken rice ball all in one go... And there is beer too... I will be going again in the following week will take pictures.

Visited The Fat Mammoth recently with some friends that I have not seen for a while. What would have just been a casual catchup became something memorable with the food and ambience at The Fat Mammoth. Everything from the food, locale, ambience and service was top notch. Portions are very generous too for the prices. This is one place that you definitely do not want to miss the next time you are thinking of somewhere to hangout with pals!

The oysters is a must try if you’re visiting TFM! Fresh & juicy! 4th time here because the location is so convenient (couple mins walk from Jalan Besar mrt) and the food is so good! Must try if you’re in the mood for Thai Fusion!

Ate at The Fat Mammoth twice and a 3rd for pick up! My all time fav are the crab omelette, tomyam soup and seafood fried rice! I can’t find any other places where they serve pork rack cooked in this manner - melts in the mouth and a smile on your face! Going to try other items on the menu!

Very friendly uncle, who sells Hainanese chicken rice balls, recipe been around more than 80 years. He moved in Jan from across the road from Shing Boon Hwa coffeeshop . Had portion of chicken meat n pork belly , 2 rice balls each served with a super side of chili sauce … be warned ! We got the herbal soup with tau pok, it’s too herbal for my taste, had slight bitterness. Cost us $21 for 2 pax . Not cheap. We took away half chicken n 4 rice balls , it’s cost $23. Qualifying to say if you grown up eating this , you would loved it , I bet recipe has not changed since day 1. Good for first time experience but I am unlikely to go back .

My third visit to the restaurant and the standard holds. I’m glad that I’d ordered the pasta. The crab pasta is amazing and the beef is succulent. Great place to spend time with family. I’ll definitely go again. Cheers ?
