★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Taste was mediocre and portion was small.
Gave this place at Tai Seng a shot because I thought it looked good (had a queue!). Ordered a Hainanese pork chop for takeaway, which cost $13.90.
Portion was pathetic, cooking quality was so-so (not better than the average kopitiam western stall). Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice and clean diner with friendly staff. Food is good. Often crowded during meal times so I guess many others agree on that. Service was a bit slow when there’s a lot of people as there’s only 3 staff taking orders, cooking and serving. Oxtail stew, lamb stew and fish and chips were good. Batter on the fish was light and crispy and the chips were thickly cut from whole potatoes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had the chicken curry noodles.
Decent price.
Succulent chicken. Choice of white or dark meat.
Choice of mix beehoon and yellow noodles.
Will come again to try the rest.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Decent food at a very affordable price. The fried chicken that I ordered was good though the sauce is on the saltier end but overall I would visit again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love the two dishes we ordered - Hainanese pork chop with fries and herbal lamb stew. One of the best hainanese pork chops I have eaten, with crispy biscuit coating over slightly moist pork drizzled with lovely sweet tangy sauce dotted with green peas. The lamb stew was good too, slightly gamey enough to distinguish what you are eating. Not too oily broth with goji, ginger etc.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I see asian and western fusion, I am always ready to label it as gimmicky. This place services what I deem to be simply Hong Kong inspired dishes and true enough the food is really good as compared to stand alone Hong Kong fusion restaurants where I pay double the amount for. Also the setting is very Scandinavian so while it isn't that authentic it is a comfortable place to dine.
What sets it apart is really their baked chicken cheese rice. Nomenclature-ly I reckon it was just another baked rice but little did I know they cook real authentic Asian chicken rice with tender chicken pieces in western cheese baked rice style. It was a simple combination but very unexpected - partly cuz I do not go for baked rice only my partner does. I recommend Hainan to add chicken rice garlic chilli to really give it the extra edge. At $10 set with drinks, I say just go for it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Strongly flavoured curry with peranakan taste blended into it. Pork ribs are generous in size and the meat is just so tender. My wife had the beef oxtail and I would definitely go for that the next time round. Thick pepperish sauce that goes well with the mash potato. Similar to my dish, the serving is generous. The only 美中不足 is probably their coffee, which is as 'po' as tissue paper. Overall, its somewhere I would recommend if you are looking for good fusion food without queuing.
