A surprise gem right in the middle of housing estates. Tims Restaurant & Cafe is great for family and small group gathering. A wide variety of western and Napalese food at affordable prices with korean beer and wine to complete your fine dining in the heartlands.

All is nice, the staffs are friendly.. they greeted my fam 'Happy New Year', told us what is nice and etc. But, when it came to the set meals, the price stated on the menu is clearly $4.5 and we werent told that there is an increase in price on PH(new year day).. we were only told about it after we finished our soup and bread. And the price is increased by 80cent to a dollar?!? Ok to many the price does not matter but this is actually an issue.. it is like we are 'scammed'? If my fam knew about the increased in price, we would have reconsidered the set meal.

I move around in Singapore a lot and had a chance to try out this restaurant due to a friend's suggestion. They mentioned they serve Nepalese cuisine and it's rare to find such a cuisine that's located in an old heartland estate like Toa Payoh. The restaurant is spacious and the service staff is friendly. Most importantly, they really do have Nepalese cuisine as stated, alongside a variety of Western fare, which many old folks who dine there go for. (Maybe because they have a senior citizen discount special which was really nice!). We had 2 appetizers and a main course and the serving size for the appetizers were family size but we stillanaged to finish it. It's my first time trying Nepalese cuisine and it's actually quite interesting - worth a try really! I would love to try out the Western fare next if I can! And they currently have 20% discount on ala-carte.

Pros: nett price Cons: We went there Sunday night, 19th September 2021, and there wasn't a lot of people but it was very chaotic. The staff were arguing (guy in yellow shirt at counter was screaming to the staff to "open their eyes") and there was a lot of banging of plates. It's a small indoor seating area so the noise was very hard to ignore. We ordered a set meal with one mushroom soup(top up $1, the soup of the day was chicken soup) and one chicken soup and chocolate cake. My friend is a vegetarian so ordered veggie chow mien and the mushroom soup. The older lady taking our order didn't write down any of our orders. We were served two chicken soup and when we informed them, they didn't even realise that we ordered mushroom soup (keyed in wrong order, maybe can write down the order next time?) The mushroom soup took about 10 minutes to serve. Then the Chinese waitress served my friend "chicken chow mien" and when my friend asked if its veggie chow mien instead, she was like "oh ya, that" For dessert, the Chinese waitress served us yellow sponge cake and said it was prune cake and then said it was cheesecake? She didn't even know the menu... It was a regular pound cake (the type you can buy at giant supermarket) and we asked what about the chocolate cake the older lady told us about? And she said they ran out.... They didn't even inform us about it. Food is edible. But the portion is questionable. Do Not order the pizza. Its $12 for a pan sized, those you can get for better quality for $5 at pizza hut. The dough was also RAW. Also asked for extra sauce because chicken was dry but was told have to add $1 for any sauce lol. This is the first place I've been to where I heard such thing. Other places like Aston don't have? Overall, horrible service and bad atmosphere. Been here before where we were served by I think it was the owner, older guy with glasses, who was very polite. Unfortunately, this time, was a bust.

I enjoyed the chicken momo, especially with the sauce (not sure what it is). I wish they can create the Bhutanese version with cheese ;) I miss that chilli cheese momo in Bhutan. The meat in both main dish 'Chicken Tash With Pulau' and 'Nepali Lamb Choila' are very tasty ? Hub said he went there with too high an expectation (he had actual nepalese food on himalayan mount before) so he wasn't too satisfied but I enjoyed the food ? I think I will return ? Anyway it seems like western food is more popular here. The western food serving looks generous and great plating.

Not bad, gives you a good feel of what food in Nepal is like. Most interesting to me was the dumpling. Eating it like Chinese style with Indian curry.

Good environment. I have been to Nepal before and can vouch that the Momo served here tasted authentic. The other Nepali dishes I tried was great as well. The staff was kind enough to wipe the baby chair clean before handing it to us. Great service. Would definitely re-visit again!
