This is one of my favourite one as I like to be less wet type of Hokkein mee. This means the noodles cooked for longer time to soak up the flavour. I am lucky to come here on Friday to have lunch where the queue was not that long. Attempt to come here for several times and finally get to eat it .. Ordered the $5 but the ingredients kind of standard with pre boiled shrimp , squid and some of the pork slices. Key is the sambal chili to go well in it … of course the lard too!

Decent portion at $6 but waited around 35 minutes for the food. Lots of squids. It’s not my favourite but it’s eatable! Can try if you’re around the area but wouldn’t recommend you to travel down just for this!

#01-13 Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee 中峇魯益生炒福建蝦麵 Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee has been around for a really long time. The current hawker uncle had learnt of the recipe from his dad and taken over in the 1990s till now. This stall has many old friend and customers but has been gaining many new faces visiting it since being awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore award back in 2017. Another victim of the Internet army of people who do not like to queue for their food, they have been hit by quite a number of 1, 2 or 3 star reviews on Google from these wait whiners. Granted the stall assistant Auntie is pretty gruff but when you are being asked constantly if the dish is ready every other minute, you try being polite the entire day for everyday. Of course, being old customers, we do have our ways to get ahead of the queue to order our food but we too need to be patient and have to order at least 1 hour ahead. All we save are the time in the queue. The Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee here has consistently been wonderful, with the generous stock, succulent prawns and that drool worthy noodles. The Hawker Uncle prepares everyday early in the morning and the stock takes about 6 to 8 hours to prepare. Preparing the stock has its dangers too as a couple of years ago, he had to close the stall for months as he recovered from an incident when the boiling stock overturned during prep time and poured into his rubber boots resulting in 2nd degree burns on his leg. After he recovered, he returned and restarted the stall to much joy to his usual customers. The Hawker Uncle has already announced that once he retires, the recipe of his Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee will go with him as his children have already indicated they have no intention to take over. While he is still fit and healthy, he will continue manning the stall and for many of us is always deserving of a return visit. General Verdict: Wonderful Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee that has a great stock, ingredients and drool worthy noodles. Opening Hours: Daily 3:30pm to 10pm (Closed on Saturdays and Wednesdays) (Closes early if sold out) Queue Situation: About 30 to 45 mins Payment Mode: Cash only Is this worth a try? Yes. Is it worth making a trip just to try it? Yes. Is this worthy of the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore Award? Yes. Item Ordered: 1) Item: Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle Description: Noodles cooked and simmered in pork and prawn stock. No customisation allowed or possible. Tastes best when taken with the chili and a squeeze of the lime Verdict: Excellent, Definitely Order Price: SG$4/SG$5/SG$6/SG$8 (S/M/L/XL) (Takeaway starts at SG$4.50)

If you're a fan of thick and gooey Hokkien Mee, this will be the place for you. Full of wok hei, and very tasty. Waiting time could be very long during peak hours.

Interesting plate of fried hokkien prawn mee that is gooey/greasy with a strong wok hei or borderline chao ta flavour. Served in disposable plate and cutleries even for dine-in. Cash only. Not worth queuing so try your luck at 2pm to avoid the crowd.

Enjoyed the $6 plate of fried prawn noodle though it was a 35 minute wait in line on weekday evening. There were 3 medium size fresh prawns and some pieces of squid. What stood out in the dish was the strong prawn stock and mushroom cream-like flavour from the super thick gravy in which the noodles were soaked.

I seldom give 1 star and this stall gets the rudest hawker award from me for 2021. Well done. I am not angry cause I queue for very long, I only queued for 10 mins by the way. I also didn't keep asking the lady when will my food be ready to annoy her. I was standing there doing nothing looking at her and waiting for her to take my order and when I ask her if I can place my order, she rudely say can't you see I am busy? I kept quiet. Since is my first time there, I paid for my food and waited. Never say anything or ask her when the food be ready, yet she can still be grumpy like hell. Now we talk about the food. This has nothing to do with the rudeness of the lady. Noodle has NO wok "hei", no prawn broth taste and is one of those lousy hokkien mee I have eaten. I am willing to queue for food. I can take rudeness most of the time. But I can't take lousy food. There is another store nearby which seems better. Will try there in future.

Felt abit scammed. Long q queued for 30min. Taste wise just taste like burnt taste whole thing taste like smoke. No flavour. Gooey and sticky, overcooked noodles. Only got prawn n sotong n egg no other ingredients. I don't like it at all! Doesn't represent hokkien hei mee flavour in SG! Food King is a lie!
