It is shocking that this pocket of inefficiency exists in Singapore! I have had 4 friends get license converted in last 2 weeks, and on an average it took them from 1.5 - 3 hrs!!! And this despite them reaching the center before it opens and on a weekday! I can only imagine what the wait times would be if you get there on a weekend or if you get there late (during the working hours) When you get to the counter it is literally a 2 minute process (if all your documents are ok), but the wait is just crazy! I hope this gets fixed - they are destroying a lot of valuable working hours for the workforce!

I think the reviews shown here might not truly reflecting what's the actual situation. After reading all the reviews, I am actually quite worried how long do I need to wait to do my foreign driver license conversion. I gave a 4 stars because the attitude of the officers were good, though I think something can be done to streamline the process. Eg. the same person handles the whole receiving documents to making payment. I went on a Monday morning, reached there around 9:30am. There was no queue to go in. When I passed my BTT, the officer from the driving center has already passed me a copy of the pink form, so there is no need to fill in on the spot. There was 41 applicants before me, it took 2 hours to reach my turn, considering that the officers sometimes might need to spend more time explaining to people who did not prepare all the documents, I think it was alright as I have already set the expectation there. Took 5 minutes for me to just pass the officer all the necessary documents. After that, I was being asked to wait to be called for the payment. Spent another hour waiting for my name to be called, then took 10 minutes for that officer to tally everything. So my advice would be: Know what you are applying for and prepare ALL the necessary documents in advance (both original and photocopied). I assume most people here gave low review because they had to go out to photocopy and then came back to queue again according to one of the guards.

Arrived at 10.15am on a Saturday for a foreign license conversion and had 70 people in front of me. Mind you that if you have people accompanying you they are not allowed to go in with you. The waiting hall was filled to the brim. Only 3 counters were processing license conversions and it went painfully slow. Halfway through I realized I did not photocopy my foreign drivers license so I walked out and asked the guard where’s the nearest photocopy shop. It’s at block 3005 somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately when I reached it was already closed so I had to beg the shop behind (photo Id taking) to print for me. I was charged $2 for a sheet of paper. Rushed back to the hq with 15 more people in front of me. My turn only came around 1pm. Thankfully I had all my papers and was approved in a jiffy. My advice: - go as early as they open - make sure you have original & photocopies of everything except the foreign driving abstract I hope this is the first and last time I need to visit this place as it’s truly the most inefficient process in Singapore I’ve experienced.

Queuing outside with social distancing under hot sun ( or rain) . Pls be prepared! Indeed, there is only 3 counters open for business!! Prepare your foods/ drink for long waiting. Update: After getting your queue number, head to cafeteria for comfortable environment. It is way cooler than Main lobby. Traffic Police need to do something! It is very stuffy in main area.

Overall the driving license conversion process is quick if you know what you are doing. Arrived at 850 am (Saturday), queue for taking numbers are a bit slow, i guess most people dont know which option to choose. When I got my number, there are 17 people aheads of me. Remember to bring a pen as you need to fill up a pink form. It took around 30 mins to be my turn, and luckily I have prepared everything beforehand. The lady at the counter is sweet and friendly, it took only 4 mins for me to pay and get the temporay driving license. I saw that many people didn't know they have to photostat everything as TP needs to keep a copy, remeber to do so before going.

If you apply for license conversion and use US income tax return to prove your stay in the US, you need to make sure that it covers the six months after the issue of your US driving license. Otherwise the officer will not accept it, at lease it’s so for my case. I was told that bank statement or pay slip are also ok. They now process both the application and payment in one counter, which improves efficiency quite a lot. Maybe traffic police does pay attention to reviews here :) I need to wait for 2.5 hours to get my number called. I arrived at 8:35am and have 30+ persons before me. Two counters are reserved for license conversion. For my case, I need to go back home to print the correct income tax return and go back to the traffic police again. The good thing is that for the second time I don’t need to queue anymore. I think the overall procedure seems to be more smooth than some of the previous reviews described. The only thing I would suggest for improvement is to make it very clear what documents are required for major scenarios.

Quite shocked by the process. They ask people stand outside under the Sun to wait. Can’t arrange by appointment, so, have to be there in person waiting under the Sun. I went 2 times, 1st at 9:15 got ticket 78 and 2nd arrived at the gate 8:20 am, unfortunately, still only get ticket Number:45. Quite bad service as a public service provider. Are you agree?

After reading previous reviews, which are immensely useful and informative, I diligently ensure I have all the needed documents for license conversion as per stipulated in the form ( now the white form instead of pink form) and arrived early at 0820am. By this time, there were already 25 people in front. Traffic police staff were generally friendly and courteous. Waited for about 2 hours before my number was called. It took less than 5 minutes to complete the document checks and then waited for another 40 minutes or so to make the payment and complete the process, which took about 10 minutes. All in all, it took about 3 hours. So the key is to really have all the documents ( original and photocopies) well in place then the agony will be less. A lot of the waiting was due to officers explaining to individuals who do not have all the documents in place. Therefore if a prescreening can be done at the entrance this may reduce the wait as some mistakes and omissions could have been intervened earlier instead of eternally waiting for these to be told. My compliments however go to the Traffic Police for providing ample stand fans around as well as card operated vending machines for food and drinks. For someone who previously spent hours of waiting at SSDC Woodland, without food and water, the sight of these vending machines is simply soothing. The options for getting queue numbers can be prepared in other languages than English to help smoothen the process.
