★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I visited UMC Toa Payoh to see if is the place suitable for my mum. Saw that they were celebrating Mother's Day and the residents looks happy. Saw the staffs doing manicure for the residents. Will consider this place for my family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Serves its purpose as expected, which is a nursing home. Staffs/helpers are generally okay except few occasions where the care provided falls short of expectation. The change of the visiting hours to strict hours inconveniences families. Finally the lounge tv was upgraded and the signal fixed, now the residents can enjoy clear TV shows on a big screen.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Volunteered at UMC for a month and it was extremely insightful. The staff, the atmosphere, all very welcoming. And it really touched my heart to see the nurses and physiotherapists treat the residents with such care and dignity. Really remarkable people with remarkable patience to serve. Hope to come back as soon as possible for a visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For an elderly care home (nursing home), this place seems to be dead all the time. I only see relatives visiting but rarely see any elderly coming out to enjoy the day even though I can see the place from my house window! I do wonder a lot how the residents are being cared for. Do they get any stimulation, apart from basic accommodation and nursing care? I once called to volunteer (went out of my way to get their phone number) and was given a very curt reply, so I can only surmise that they couldn't care less about volunteers, which probably means that there is very little that this nursing home do apart from basic nursing care.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Made several calls throughout the day and no staff made any effort to answer simple general enquiries. Was told to wait for call from social worker. No one called back. Sent email and finally the social worker Ms Yvonne called back. Only to be told there is no separate queue for non-subsidized patients at this branch and they do not accept respite care cases, unlike their other branches. Waste of time!
