If you enjoy eating Hainanese Chinese Rice , where the chicken is 75 - 80 percent cooked , then the Fong Kee stall at Blk 823A Coffeeshop ( Tampines West, Street 81) is the place you should go to. Business starts from 8 am daily , so if you happen to be around the area to shop at the wet market or to eat breakfast, drop in to Fong Kee for a taste of freshly boiled chicken to accompany the popular kway chap, kaya with half boiled eggs, crispy pancakes, chye tow kueh , popiah and bak chor mee which this coffee shop is popular for . For me, I like the old time Hainanese stalls that sells boiled ‘kampung’ chicken , where the meat is dry, fully cooked with crunchy skin showered with a dash of sesame oil and served with fresh, grounded thick chilly and ginger paste ( instead of the diluted , watery version served nowadays ) My wife remembers the old Grandmother's Tale, that men like to eat and/or fed three quarter’ cooked chicken, as it contributes to their virility (as does eating half boiled eggs, daily ) or so it seems . Perhaps today is a good time as any, to try out this age old therapy ie eat a full thigh portion of a freshly boiled “three quarter cooked” chicken with two healthy half boiled eggs, for breakfast. Best Chicken I tasted compared to others like Boon Tong Kee , Wee Nam Kee etc .Rice is very fragrant and meat is very tender . Die die must try .

Tasty fragrant chicken rice at $2.50. White chicken is better compared with their roasted chicken which tasted dry.

Tasty and value for money meal. $2.50 Chicken Rice. A good portion of tender steamed chicken with a bowl of white radish soup. The curry chicken noodles ($3.50) is good too.

The boiled chicken was tender and the chicken skin was silky, the chili sauce complement the chicken very well. Char siew was nice with a little fat on it. It is a delicious meal and avoids lunch time if possible.
