Old guy at the shop wanted to charge me $1.50 per bolt when I asked for 10 M4/25 carriage bolts. That's daylight robbery. His retort is "too expensive then don't buy!". I managed to order 20 stainless steel m4/25 carriage bolts at $1.20 for the whole lot online. Buyers beware.

I arrived 30 mins before closing on a Saturday. While the uncle didn't smile, he took my business quickly and efficiently and offered (imo) an extremely good price to boot. To those who complain about bad service and the uncle being grumpy, here's a tip: come prepared. I had written down on paper the following - (1) quantity of screws required, (2) screw diameter e.g. M4 M5 etc (3) screw length in mm (4) screw head shape (countersunk, button etc) (5) screw head type (Phillips, hex etc) Or at the very least, have screw samples ready if you don't know the details. If you respect their time and effort, the staff there will give you due respect as well. If you're being 'overcharged', that's probably because you're making them go to extra lengths to fulfill your requests. In summary, I'm extremely satisfied with my experience with Yong Seng, and this will definitely be where I'll come to get my screws from now.

I requested a counter clockwise screw, and the seller offered me a m10 counter clockwise screw for $20 a piece, presuming that the screw is "stainless steel," which it is not. Very dishonest seller, NOT RECOMMENDED, DEAL AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I was served by a very well-spoken young man who was attentive, polite and gave good advice even though I only bought 4 pcs of screws for $1. Other people commented it cost 100 times more as compared to bulk purchase of 100 pcs. I think let's be really clear here, for $1, we bought his time, his experience and the screws. The business has other costs too. All in all, I recommend this business and salute them for catering to small timers like myself who dropped in to buy 4 pcs of screws.

Visited twice for screws for my bike. First was a young kid, very friendly, and helpful and good knowledge of his stuff. Second was a lady (maybe wife of the Uncle owner), very friendly and helpful as well.. Did not deal with the Uncle, so don't have any feedback on that.. But one occasion he was overly chatty/friendly and wanted to just sit on my bike... WHILE it was folded.. I rushed to stop him.. "Uncle, I come here only to buy screw, I don't intend to buy another bicycle leh! ?" LOL

Totally understand why some folk would be offended by the uncle at Yong Seng but Imho he probably has a slightly gruff personality. His knowledge and recommendation was superb and he even asked me to finish assembling my item to make sure everything fit before I paid. Price was reasonable too. I really appreciated uncle’s advice and patience with me ???????

I have purchased items from Yong Seng Screws on two occasions for different DIY projects. Kaelen has always been friendly and helpful in answering my queries, and even suggesting better alternative components once he understood my intended use case. While the prices do appear high compared with some bulk listings on e-commerce platforms, I still prefer to purchase from YSS because of their very extensive selection and Kaelen's helpful advice. In fact, the prices may even be lower than some listings if you are buying small quantities. I learned the hard way when I bought a set of nuts and bolts from an overseas seller on Shopee - they took two weeks to arrive and then I discovered they did not fit together because the thread size was different and not specified in the listing. I ended up buying the correct sized bolts from YSS and they were half the price the Shopee seller had charged. It's worth sending an email before visiting the shop to make sure they have what you need and find out the price to avoid surprises, especially if you don't prefer to speak Chinese.
