★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 4 stars for the portion and taste, 1 star for having to queue haha.
A very hearty bowl of soup, no noodles or rice. The stall only takes orders by the number of bowls you want.
I like the fried fish cake thingy, the other liao like tofu and fishball not mind blowing. Guess i prefer ampang ytf style. Honestly will only eat if don’t have to queue 1hour for it! Go earlier to avoid the lunch crowd!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ??? The soup base not bad, just right amount of salt and light sauce . The ingredients for $4.50 ?. Not too heavy if you don't want heavy meal during lunch. ???

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tried 2 yong tau foo stalls at People's Park Centre Food Centre one after another. This is the 1st stall that has a perpetual long queue, though fast-moving. 2nd stall i tried is further along the same stretch near the mala stalls. Order by the bowl for a standard set of ingredients including fresh and fried tofu, prawn/fish paste rolls/wu xiang. No rice or noodles. Noticed mostly middle aged to elderly customers at the stall - is it a "lao zi hao"?
Compared to the 2nd stall, the soup and ingredients at this stall taste more salty and sweet. Soup flavour basically comes from the ingredients and seasoning. If there's a soup base, I couldn't taste any. Possibly laden with MSG - thirst was almost unquenchable after finishing the ingredients - downed 1 half litre bottle of water and still thirsty.
YTF portion more generous compared to 2nd stall at the same price of $5 (March 22) - more pork paste atop the tofu and fuller sized rolls/wu xiang. However the fried wu xiang oozes oil in the mouth upon biting in and they're the saltiest of the lot.
Chilli sauce is watery and lacks character, have a sense it's commercially made.
Similar to the 2nd stall, fishball is springy without fishy smell. But again too salty and seems artificially sweet. Tofu has a good texture, very fresh and firm.
Unfortunately it's a once bitten never again for me. The high sodium and MSG levels are too overwhelming for personal taste

One sip and it sings of Home by Kit Chan. ? It is extremely homely and reminiscent to my Grandma's cooking. ❤ The soup is heavily salted with strong flavours of pepper and spring onions, rather similar to a good bowl of fishball noodles with two fishballs and other ytf ingredients. The fish paste served was uniquely fluffy and the fishballs were QQ-ingly springy. ? As usual, the fried ingredients were aromatic and tasty. ? My favourite ingredient of all was the fried tofu as the savoury fried exterior gave a very nice flavour and textural contrast to the soft tofu. The chilli felt provided a pleasant kick and tang to complement the ingredients.?Despite the long queue, i only waited about 10 minutes before my food was served!
?
As light (清淡) as this soup looks, it is actually quite lethal. I guess the long queue is due to the logarithmic relationship of salt and endorphins. Get what i mean now? :/ Some ingredients were too heavily salted that i couldn't taste much.
?
I shall now admit that i have fallen into the flavour trap of this heavy-tasting yong tau foo.? nonetheless, i'll still go for more accessible ytf which tastes similar, has shorter queues (HAHA) and provide some carbs to make it feel like a full meal! If you're craving for some intense yet hearty flavours on a sad afternoon, this would be a perfect option! Especially when you can enjoy the rustic vibes of bustling Chinatown!! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious bowl of Yong Tau Fu soup ($4.50) just full of umami. There is only 1 item on the menu and you will get a 10 piece mix of tofu, fried tofu, beancurd fish paste rolls and fishballs in soya bean based soup. The dipping sauce is tasty but sometimes i am ok without it.
Expect a perpetual snaking queue since opening. The uncles will serve your bowls to your table after you have ordered.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very comforting bowl of ytf, with fresh ingredients!
Be prepared to queue, but it was well worth it.
The queue might looked long but it moves quite fast.
After queuing to place your order, they will served it your table.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Enjoyed the yong tau foo soup ($5). No rice or noodles in the dish, and there was no other dish and no choice of pieces. Long queue but it moved fast (10 minutes). Served to the table almost immediately. Best part was the soup and the delicate tofu.
