★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Terrible Consultation Experience
Very disappointing and worst consultation experience I ever had! Reusable acupuncture needles used and no prescriptions Chinese herbs given. Read on for more details of my first and last visit on 31 August 2021!
I consulted Mr Yu for acupuncture on my aching elbow. The clinic was not attended when I walked in. No response when I called for attention. I had to ring so I could speak with a gentleman whom I believe it’s Mr Yu. Mr Yu appeared shortly after my phone call.
Mr Yu was quick to say I had rheumatism when I told him I could not straighten my elbow as it hurts. Although I am fairly conversant in Mandarin, I have to request Mr Yu to speak slowly as I had difficulty understanding his strong Chinese accent.
After asking a few questions and brief pulse reading (less than 30 seconds each), Mr Yu asked me to lie down in another room for acupuncture. He came in with 6 needles which are reusable and I hope he had sterilised them with alcohol before using them on me! I was left alone for less than 15mins although I was given the understanding that it would be. I bled when Mr Yu removed the needles. Light bruising marks started showing on the acupuncture points.
When Mr Yu gave me 2 packets of Chinese herbs, I asked for the prescription. He told me he didn’t have the prescription and simply said they were meant for blood circulation.
He gave me some very simple instructions to brew the herbs. Sadly, I burnt the first brew! I’m contemplating if I should just discard the second packet! My damage is $110/- for 10min of acupuncture session and 2 packets of Chinese herbs!
My experience does not match up with the impression I had when I first saw the photos Mr Yu displayed at the clinic he took with PM Lee, DPM Heng and his marketing claims at all!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best TCM doctor for coughs and respiratory tract infections. My hubby had a recurring cough for many months. After consuming his special concoction of medicinal herbs, the cough cleared in 2 weeks. Whenever someone has a respiratory infection that does not clear with Western meds, we will seek treatment from Dr Yu. I learnt about Dr Yu more than 20 years ago from a friend whose daughter found relief from constant severe respiratory infections through his treatments. He was one of the top doctors in China before he migrated here. Highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had tried treatments for my rheumatoid arthritis from both Eastern and Western medication but to no avail.
The unbearable pain can make me cry in the middle of the night. All types of painkillers only can stop the pain for a while and have side effects.
After my friend recommended me to seek treatment from Yueqi Chinese Medical Hall, my condition improved gradually.
I understand that TCM is the slow way to cure illness as TCM involves the use of natural herbs without chemical compounds.
I had my patience to brew the stems and leaves and had my courage to get the acupuncture. After a period of treatment from Dr Yu, who is really a professional Chinese physician with many years of experience.I can finally walk without walking aid.I would like to share my personal experience here as well as to express my gratitude to Dr Yu.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A few months back, my 86 years old mother complained back pain when she woke up and eventually the pain spread to her hip and legs. I brought her to one of those chain TCM and a young physician attended to her. There were no concrete diagnosis but they suspect there might be a hairline fracture in her hip bone. They recommended her to do an X-ray. In that session they give her 30 min of acupuncture, 30 min of tuina (massage) and some satchels of TCM powder. The pain did not go again. We went back a week later with the X-Ray which they didn’t even look. There were no fracture or cracks. She continued with another session of acupuncture and tuina and more TCM powder. In total we went for 3 sessions and cost me about $500 excluding the X-Ray. As the condition worsen and the pain was getting more unbearable, my mother decided to consult another Chinese physician. She was given bottles of TCM mixture which she claimed reduced her back pain but her legs were still in pain.
After much persuasion, I brought her to A&E and she was admitted to hospital for further observation. The following 2 weeks in the hospital, they did CT scan, MRI, nerve test, blood test on her. No conclusion but the physiotherapist suspect deterioration of muscle due to aging and lack of exercise due to pandemic. My mother was discharged with a walking frame, different grade of pain killers and multiple dates for follow ups with different specialists. The doctors suggested survive on pain killers for the time being and follow the instructions given by the physiotherapist.
Recommended by my sister, I brought my mother to Yueqi. No fancy decorations at the medical hall, no receptionist to give out queue numbers, we were greeted by the doctor. The doctor checked my mother’s pulse and told her she was healthy ( besides the pain, she has no other illness). I told the doctor the long story and the hospital’s findings. He settle my mother into a room and came back with 6 needles. He went straight for the pain points. Swift and precise, my mother did not even feel needles going in. After the 20 min session, we were given 2 packs of Chinese herbs and medicine. The doctor taught me how to brew the medicine and even asked me take a photo of the instructions in both Chinese and English just in case I forget. That session cost me $110.
The next few days, I brew the medicine religiously everyday but burnt once as I fell asleep while watching the fire. My mother was still in pain but it was more bearable that she did not need to take the pain killers. After a week of, we visited Yueqi again. This time my mother did not need to use the walking frame, she used an umbrella as a walking aid instead. After consultation, the doctor went straight to the pain points swiftly again and another 2 packets of TCM to last for a week. Another $110. On our third visit, my mother even wanted to ditch the walking aid but insisted that she take it along. Another round of needles and 2 packets of TCM.
Back track a little, at the first physiotherapy when she was discharged from the hospital, my mother could hardly walk and finds it a challenge to do the stairs station. During the follow up session ( after her 3rd visit to Yueqi) the therapist was impressed that my mother could walk without any walking aid and could climb the stairs without anyone holding her. Told the therapist that besides doing the instructed daily exercises, my mother was also consuming TCM since there was no medication prescribed by Western doctors.
Going back for her fifth session tomorrow, I am glad that we went to Yueqi and with the help of Dr Yu, my mother got much better and she is almost back to her daily routine independently. Although Dr Yu is a man with few words, my mother feels that he knows all the acupuncture points well and is precise and swift with every needle. It was recommended that she completes a 10 session treatment. It might feels long and troublesome but when I see my mother’s condition getting better every week, it makes it all worthwhile.
