The most basic dim sum, the Char Siew Pao, its filling was nowhere resembling the char siew. Phoenix feet taste like they have been marinated in sea water for a very long time. So were the siew mai and the crispy rice roll. The advertised "renowned" mini egg tart is a down right failure. Any confectionery shop would taste better. Lady who took order was easily distracted by people/customers around her so much so that she keyed in wrong item but warn that once items keyed in can't be amended (very smart of her). Overall, the dim sum experience was in my opinion CMI. Worst I'd tasted. I would suggest the CHEF to constantly monitor the quality and taste of the dim sum made. Additional observation - the black coffee tasted nothing like coffee shop coffee. Should either get better (unadulterated) coffee powder or send the coffee girl to a coffee making course.

Called Five Star, though most unfortunately the two dishes I've had doesn't exactly live up to its name nor expectations, especially at these prices. Enjoyable is their chilli oil that has black vinegar added. Very appitizing.

The dimsum is definitely of the better ones out there. I can tell that the ingredients were fresh which attributed to the good flavour. I also felt that the flavours were seasoned and balanced well as there was no one taste overpowering another. Ambience wise, marble tables and wooden chairs at a coffeeshop! Drink stall staff friendly and attentive. Cleaning aunty was friendly (I've a feeling she might be the owner of the coffeeshop). In short, felt very welcomed there.

Ordered chee cheong fun (char siew), xiao long bao, siew mai, chicken feet, carrot cake and liu sha bao. Chee cheong fun was soft and meat filling was generous. Xiao long bao skin was too thick and yet the skin of one of the pieces was broken. Black pepper seasoning did not go well with chicken feet. Fried carrot cake was crispy on outside but soft in the inside. Flavor was good too. Liu sha bao skin lack of fluffyness of what a basic bun should be.

My fave neighbourhood dim sum place! Their siew mai is a must order, meat juicy and naturally sweet. Century egg pork porridge was super full of ingredients! Chashao cui very buttery and soft cha shao, pork ribs flavourful. Can skip the noodles, weird sauce. We spent $18 on this meal.

A wasted Sunday Lunch on a less than decent meal with a bad taste. Joined the seemingly not-too-short queue at Blk 158 Kopitiam a self proclaimed 5 Star Dim Sum stall. Left with almost 75% of the food untouched. 1. Hygiene - Place runs like usual regardless if we are still in pandemic at present, with customers getting their own cutlery, plates and sauces. The floor is dirty and tray oily as i notice when self collecting. Handlers are not known if he/she is from back kitchen or front desk, donning boots. 2. Food - we ordered 3 fried items, and all are fried the same way as Goreng Pisang. Their quality is FAR from standard -all wrapped with a thick coating of batter. Echoed another reviewer that their foods are far from the look of pictures, let alone 5 star. LOOK wise also fail. The chicken feet is seasoned with strong Ngorhiong and black pepper - are they a coverup? The Charsiew Pineapple bun is not only crispy outside, tough on the inside, the feel is NOT HK bun. This is poorer in baking skills than our regular bakery at neighbourhood. 5 Stars? 5/50 maybe. There is no 'chef' person in the kitchen - all wearing their own T-shirts or regular street cloths they came in. Maybe the century egg porridge can save the day.- , the eggs are not diced, big lumps of century egg, generous or wasteful depending if good effort is given at their food preparation. Beancurd skin Prawn - dreadful! Never seen one as large and bulkily fried. 3. Service/Ambience - Counter lady not sure if she is the same person all the time in other reviews. Nothing personal, but it will help if she does not talk so loudly with her colleagues or other persons. It affects everyone who needs a good quiet Sunday. She was waiting for us to do her maths when we apply CDC voucher. Yes busy at times, (not always) but does any management runs this place to ensure neighbourliness consideration? 4. Advertisement - Why put up a Chef's big name when standards are not keep up to? We know he does not cook everything but the seasoning, steaming, frying etc have standards that can be passed on, no? Or just a gimmick for people who read poster? Feel sorry for the kopitiam helper who comes to wipe our table clean, and the other stalls who have the tables taken up. Thanks to them but really, this review is hopefully read by the business owner who wants to attract and retain customers with a loud 5 star name but without effort, in so many good local ways which can be learnt from the opposite block - Meiling Hawker Centre. A jarring contrast to local pride about food quality.

Unexpectedly enjoyable dim sum considering it’s obscure location. What I would order again is the Siew Mai (Crystal Jade’s is still my fave), the deep fried prawn role, the deep fried bean curd (not in photo) and the cheong fun. The chicken feet had good texture but theirs is really unique - it’s smothered in black pepper sauce which is too spicy for me and took away the enjoyment of the skin. What I won’t order again is the egg tarts.
