โ โ โ โ โ This traditional coffee stall upstairs is pretty popular and famous as it goes back to the 1960s. The coffee and kaya toast here were prepared with a traditional charcoal fire. The kaya toast served here is a thin version kind which should be eaten immediately to enjoy its crisp texture.
However, partly because it is rather thin, it tends to get soggy after a while and the generous kaya and butter might feel overwhelmingly sweet.

โ โ โ โ โ Came here very eager to try a supposedly reknown old-school style kopi place and their (french) toast. Came away extremely disappointed.. The french toast cost $4 which I would have gladly paid for a good one, but this was cold and hard with minimal kaya. Kopi was bland-ish, nowhere near as strong and robust as those served at Coffee Break. Morning turned sour having this breakfast really. Truly wanted to support a traditional stall but sadly this was a horrible meal, hope they can improve and get back to their old standards.

โ โ โ โ โ Best place in CBD for good fresh coffee and toasted bread with butter and kaya. The kaya has a distinct egg-y flavour, my style.

โ โ โ โ โ Kopi & Toast, the classic breakfast.
One of the few remaining hawker stalls that use charcoal to toast their bread, Ah Seng Coffee is known for these indulgent Kaya French Toastย ($3.50). The eggy bread is served with pandan-fragrant spread on the side for you to double-dip or triple dip!
But if this is too sinful, thereโs the Kaya-Butter Toast ($1.70) a thin slice of butter and Kaya between two white bread.

โ โ โ โ โ I believed they charge me for a combo price but didnโt give me the soft boiled egg, and the toast was alright.

โ โ โ โ โ Love their butter/kaya toast. A must try for breakfast while traveling Chinatown. I always visit whenever I come to the country!
