[5 May 2020] ENGAGE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Left a super bad taste in the mouth. Story of my dad's experience: Dad's car is parked in the car park and cannot boot. Not urgent case. Dad sees good reviews for this company on Google, calls them up. Mechanic doesn't talk much on the phone, asks for address and says he is coming down. Dad is surprised that he's coming down without any sort of T&Cs being laid out or an offer being made. But since mechanic says he is otw, he decides to let him arrive and then talk it out. Mechanic pulls in, does his usual diagnosis, says need to change batt and pulls out the battery (he shouldn't have just yet). He then asks which type of battery my dad wants - small or big. My dad asks how much for the small one and the mechanic quotes $280 (I later found out on their site it says $100 onwards for car batt replacement (delivery and installation inclusive) so $280 is almost 3x starting price - in other words, it is daylight robbery.). My dad who has been driving for ~20 years is naturally shocked by his quote. When my dad protests it is too high and that he knows it's only about a 100 bucks or so, mechanic says okay lor pay my transport fee $80/-, and that he will just leave the battery outside the car as it is, pack up and leave. When my dad says $80 is too high and he is not willing to pay that much, the mechanic says he will call the police (gosh, for such a petty thing!). My dad knows he did not commit any legal wrong and was not going to give in easily. The mechanic ends up calling the police. When the police arrive, mechanic says he's already started doing work and my dad does not wish to pay (not valid, because the mechanic started work before my dad agreed and he is only supposed to have done diagnosis). Later, he changed tact and tells the police that their website explicitly states the transport compensation fee - standard 80 dollars (not true, I checked high and low cannot find liao - not even in small print. Further, many people may not even visit their website to be in the know of T&Cs, like you folks reading this post on Google who might just call them straight up from here. Pity, the men in blue also didn't fact check the mechanic.). Attempting to mediate (my dad called me down because the situation blew up), I suggested we give the mechanic a more reasonable 20 bucks as compensation - settle it, put the matter to rest and let him go. To put it in context: Their workshop is in Woodlands, and we stay in Admiralty. You take premium taxi from Woodlands to Admiralty also not even $80.. But mechanic refuses the offer. He defends by saying he has come from Punggol (who knows if it is true?) and says transport costs are higher due to C19 (??) and asks for $50. In the end, my dad not wanting to make such a big fuss out of it gave in and asked whether he can do the job for a lower price at $200 without the initial compensation fee he quoted. The mechanic agrees and does the job while the police waits around - they prolly have much more important things to tend to. In retrospect, we should not have accepted the service from the mechanic, for the mechanic was so rude to us and impulsive. My dad and I, being both engineers, knew the mechanic handled the car/battery badly, his anger showing through the way he tightened the bolts - the torque limit was exceeded (you could hear the clicks) but he still kept on tightening. Truth be told, it was partially my dad's fault - that he did not check whether the company charges a call-out fee and if yes, how much (they actually did not specify any such fee last I checked at 7:50p.m. 5/5/2020). WARNING to everyone: Please get to know the service before allowing them to come down. Don't let them come to your place on their own accord, start touching your barang barang and then be surprised by their "extortion". It is this service provider's sly tactic to not be upfront about such costs, so the onus is on you to be extra cautious. Don't hesitate to communicate with whichever service provider you engage PRIOR to them arriving at your doorstep.

My car battery died on me this evening and after dreading to do a google search on car tow service, it ended up that my car wont be towed away! Jordan from ARS made very prompt response to my request and reached within 45 minutes. 5 more minutes later, my car battery was replaced and my car is doing great again!
