Peranakan dinner was so so good! Each dish was super flavourful, loved the beef rendang in particular, enough portion for two bowls of rice if you’re big eater. The otah was so fragrant, the spices were an amazing blend. Soup was great as well, didn’t expect much from it but was umami seafoody without being too salty/msgy. Omelette was good too, not great (personal preference is more of the thai style lol). Kueh was a good selection too, kueh salat was bomb. Hope they’ll add more variety in the future, like curries and stuff! Service was quick on a Mon evening, friendly and casual, one guy was quite the joker lol.

We ordered the beef rendang, otah and soup. Every dish was great but our favourite was the otah! We ordered the soup because it sounded interesting. The broth was good. The otah was very juicy and the spice was just right for me (though I think many would prefer it to be spicier).

Babba is an absolutely adorable restaurant tucked within Braddell Heights estate, and has the trifecta of great food, great service and great ambiance! Stand outs were the Ayam Buah Keluak, Beef Rendang and Pulau Hitam, but honestly everything else was superb, kudos to the two chefs James and Michael. The only thing bad was the Ondeh Ondeh, skin was too thick and hard. Still, a five-star rating from me and I can’t wait to go back for the rest of the Nonya dishes!

So happy to find a gem that serves peranakan food. The family enjoyed every dish from the starters to the dessert. The crispy tart shell for the kueh pie tee accompanied by the fillings had us at first bite. So flavourful! The favourite dish got to be the ayam panggang, char grilled chicken that goes so well with the kicap manis glaze. We also agreed that their rendition of crab omelette is probably one of the better and unique ones we’ve tried. The hae bi hiam definitely enhances the overall dish. Do make a reservation before coming down as it was full house on a Saturday evening. The menu is also rather limited with only few mains to choose from. However, the quality definitely made up for it. Will return to try their brunch again.

Very underrated coffee place in Jln Riang. Very Melbourne vibe. Coffee and sweets are the killer. You can eat one but you will order more ;) Didn't try the foods and they have a very big kitchen. So can say that foods here will be amazing too. 10/10

Tried Babba's dinner menu as they have 3 different menus in a day (brunch, tea menu and Peranakan menu for dinner). Went on a Monday night so it wasn't crowded. The ambiance was calm and cozy, with a decent selection of Peranakan starters, main, soup and desserts. I ordered the Nonya Otah, which was very flavourful, ngoh hiang (five spicy roll) which was decent, chap chye was very flavourful, though I prefer my vegetables to be less soggy. And ordered Ayam Buah Keluak (which cost $28) as main, the chicken was cooked to perfection, Buah Keluak taste was strong but not too overpowering and goes very well with plain rice. Overall the meal was pretty good, although I find the prices are on a higher tier. But going with a group of 4-5 should be able to try more dishes and yet not feeling the pinch on the wallet. ?

Had a fantastic time there. Their food was absolutely delicious. Especially loved their eggs, chilli crab fries and salmon salad! Their service was also commendable. Had a chat with one of the chefs there and you could tell he was passionate about the food he serves. Would definitely recommend.

the food was flavourful and the portions were good for the price point. the banana cake was a little tough on the outside, but delicious and moist towards the centre. we ordered hot drinks but they weren’t coming, so we asked about them β€” figured the staff missed the order. a short while later, the staff brought both drinks over, stating honestly that they missed the order and that they were sorry. i appreciated the honesty and the effort to quickly rectify the issue, more than anything. left a good impression on all of us at the table and we were able to conclude our meal on a positive note. definitely looking forward to coming back again ?
