★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Most of the fans are off and the weather is hot. When asked if we can turn on the fans, the worker said it's on a timer and they can't? What? Terrible dining experience. Especially with increased prices now, we can't even turn on some fans where people are sitting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Western is good but more expensive than most other HDB coffee shops. Chi zhar also quite pricey. Only thing with normal price is the beer. Quite packed with beer crowds after dinner.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had dinner at XLX Modern Tze Char. Food was pretty interesting and tasty. Generally a bit too salty / sweet though. You'll have to request for a milder taste.
黃酒 lala - Soup was good and flavourful. Tad salty but if you like strong flavours to go with rice, you'd like it. Lala was on the puny side though. Think the prawn version should be better (but pricier).
香茅排骨 - Tender and flavourful. A bit on the sweet and salty side.
足金魚 - Batter was just nice and the fish was good. Again, tad too sweet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Head for The Queen's Grill. Great mash w gravy. Peppery too. Grilled salmon was a sizeable piece accompanied w 2 sides you choose from a list. Mushroom & chic baked rice was awesome too. Ample cheese, chic & mushroom & a huge portion too.
Certainly go there again?
On the same note, head over to cafe 107 beverage & try the ice milk tea which is a delight. My ritual morning must drink to start my day?

Introducing the shiok shiok wanton noodle
The char siew is evenly sliced, you can taste the freshly charred texture and aroma bursting inside your mouth
The highlight is the noodles, legit astonishingly. The noodles is cooked at the right temperature with a light touch from the sauce, every bite you take is worth every cent. It also comes with a bowl of wanton soup. The wanton is alright. Go try it (:

Parking: a lot since the cafe is under HDB estate

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of my favorite zi char locations here at the heart of Serangoon North Ave 1. Well-lited and much cleaner environment after recent renovation works. Plenty to choose from - western, roast meat, zi char. Seafood white beehoon taste just right, even after takeaway. Not too salty.
