Amazing find after hearing so much about Chef Kang's wanton noodles n it's fatty charsiew. Everything here is perfect, noodles, charsiew, sauce, wantons, chilli, lard and even the rich milky soup. It's five-star restaurant standard at a heartland industrial canteen stall. Definitely a must-try whoever is around the neighborhood ?

May 2022: visited this michellin gourmand wan ton noodle stall on a public holiday. Queued about 30min as there was a snaking queue. The food did not disappoint! We had the standard $6 set with add on wan tons. Was a great choice as the wan tons were large and succulent. Could see the prawns and black fungus. V generous. The noodles were springy and the char siew was tender, in part due to it being fatty. For those who prefer lean cuts, this may not be the best place for you, though you could ask for the leaner cut. Note: if you intend to try this and you leaving from home, I recommend bringing your own cutlery set. The stall provides cutlery (ie not disposable) but the cutlery is very “light”, not heavy enough. I believe eating the noodles with more substantial cutlery will make the noodles taste better!

Our quest for wanton noodles brought us to Chef Kang’s Noodle House in Toa Payoh, which was listed in the Michelin’s Guide in 2019. However, I felt that the Char Sui had a little too much fats and dry. The wanton filling wasn’t what I had expected. The noodles though crispy was marred by the somewhat “not to my liking” mixture of sauces but saved by some pieces of pork lard. The Chilli was rather nice though. Good point is the noodle was served with good portion of vegetables.

IMO, top 3 wanton stalls. The soup is creamy that has unique "fish" taste. The wanton is different and above average. Noodles is normal. The primary and key point is the char siew. Very tender, juicy and absolutely awesome.

Arrived at lunch hour to have one person ahead of me in the line. $6 wanton mee was ready to go in no time at all. Looks damn appetising. First mouthful in, texture of the noodle is damn good just as I preferred. Good crunch despite not an alkaline noodle. Takes skills. Black sauce though carried a bit of a bitter finish. Char siew presentation looks great, flavourful marinate made it tastes amazing. Just too lean and a tad dry for my liking. Wanton in ikan bilis soup was nothing to shout about.

Went there on a Sunday morning to try their famous wanton noodle and their Char Siew Pork. As I drive, I find the place easily accessible, no problem with car parking and best of all, no problem with finding table. We ordered their famous Wonton Noodle (Dry) $6 each bowl, Wonton Soup ($6) and Char Siew ($12). The noodle is thin and not soggy; They are quite generous with the gravy. The Noodle comes with 5 slices of Char Siew and 2 wonton. The Char Siew could be quite fat but well roasted and tasty. It also comes with fried pork lard. The wonton is made of pork and it also contains black fungus to give it the crunchy bite. Overall, I like the wonton noodle even though it may not the cheapest wonton noodle around. $$

Not quite the usual wanton that you will usually find in other hawker centre/coffee shop. Still, the noodles were delicious and both the char siew and wanton were really good. Char siew slightly char with just right amount of fats. The wantons were much bigger than the usual ones and they were stuffed with fillings.

Decided to try out after I heard about the Michelin Gourmand star and all. Noodle was nice. But was a bit too saucy. Char siew was generous but had quite a bit of fats on it. Dumplings were really big and juicy but maybe a tad too much of chives. Liked e soup because of its mild taste. But will I pay $6 again to come here for another bowl? That's a no.
