It does taste different and very good. I’ll describe as buttery, flatten pressed fried and crispy and very flavourful indeed. I had a chilli and a non chilli. The chilli is too sweet to my initial liking, was spread like a jam on top, more like a Nasi Lemak type of sweeten chilli. Overall enjoyed the meal. Recommended but expect at least a 45 minute of waiting time.

This stall have been cooking carrot cakes with ample chai poh and eggs for many years. Carrot cake is fried till the sides are crispy and chopped into small soft pieces. Chilli is sweet rather than hot. Looks greasy but perfect with a cup of 钓鱼 for breakfast.

They finished the renovation on my last day in Singapore and kind enough to let me know the day beforehand. Went there 10AM in the morning, the stall looks empty, however, when I ordered, the aunty told me that it is 60 minutes of waiting! So we wait ... 60 minutes passed by and we got our Chey Sua Carrot Cake! At first, it is a bit bland, however, when you eat it with the sambal, it worth the 60 minutes! A hidden gem in Toa Payoh Block 127! The aunties and uncles are friendly although they have so many people on the waiting list. ... Still the best! The prices are now $3, $4, $5.

Arrived 630sm. Served at 7am. Maybe too much high expectation. Not my type of carrot cake. Personally still prefer black. Overall, still ok. Flatten with fried egg. Added some cai po. sightly over salty. But like their retro takeaway style... Using string knot. ? Will I come back... Don't think so. (is all down to my personal preferences over black carrot cake)

Expected to wait at least 45min for it. To me, it is one of the best carrot cake in Singapore, as the chef can cook the carrot cake skin very crispy which u can hardly elsewhere in Sg. It is a must must try when you are in Toa Payoh Lor 1 area.

Recommended by Greg's Big Eats. It's a different CTK - flattened like a pancake, sweet (without the black sauce), sweet chai poh. The egg mixture forms a crispy crust with soft radish bits underneath. It's nice overall. Different style of CTK. Waited 35 minutes on a Thursday noontime

Wifey and I thought we should look for the “famous” Chye Tow Kueh in the Toa Payoh vicinity. We were thinking of buying dapao since we had just eaten. Found Chye Sua Carrot Cake 青山 not very far away. When I placed the order for dapao, stall owner told me the waiting time would be 30-35 minutes. I placed the order (paid upfront) but changed to eating in. Bought a tea and sat down to wait. True enough, it was about 35 minutes when our order was ready. Oooo… the fried carrot cake was good! The beaten eggs on the outside was crispy and the “kueh” inside was still soft with a little chye por. We shared and enjoyed this $4 plate thoroughly. In future, need one plate per person (of course without other food). Hahaha ? Before we departed, I asked stall holder if we can order by phone and she gave me her number right away - minimum order $4. By the way, the tea we ordered was also pretty good. In fact, looks like this hawker centre has many nice food stalls. And the seatings are spacious, clean and airy. Comfortable for a meal.

Very famous handmade carrot cake stall in Singapore. Egg fried till crispy brown on the exterior layer, beneath it, were the most and soft carrot cakes. Sambal chilli was a little on the sweet side, and overall it was a bit oily too. Minimum waiting time 30-45 mins, but definitely worth the wait.
