As expected a long queue since opening. The pomfret fish sells out fast (no more by 1pm when I went). Tried the batang fish soup and this is my verdict: - soup is on the salty side - thin slices of fish - fish slices with skin intact (as opposed to a video I had seen that they removed it) - don't find the fish is fresh. Has a fishy smell when taken with the skin. Overall, my opinion is not worth the price and long queue.

I love my fish soup and this was a great disappointment actually, especially since I frequent the original stall at upper serangoon road and considered it one of my fav stalls. Ordered a large batang fish soup and 2 white rice takeaway at the stall and it was really slow despite at the non peak hours. I think the 2 ladies fronting the stall are still trying to learn on the job. When it’s finally my turn and I took my food, I realised that the portion was miserable. The $6, $8, $10 seems to be the same size - all packed in the same sized container… with the same amount of soup. I can’t say for the number of slices of fish but after separating the soup from the fish after I got home and looking at what I got for my $10, - the largest available, I will pity whoever ordered the small one. In short, I think I will just eat at the original stall or I will go Defu Lane for another great fish soup stall.

Tried the normal batang fish, nice fish soup base with fresh fish slices. Fish slices are thinner but you get quite a handful of them. Having a McD-like system is good to manage the crowd, waiting time around 10-15 mins at 11am+ on weekend. However, there are cheaper options of comparable quality around. 3.5 ⭐

Have been a regular at the Upper Serangoon branch, today nearby so try this branch. The taste is different, will not try again. Bosses if you reading this, please do your quality control. I forced myself to finish the soup.

Very good fish soup. On the expensive side. Does not differ too much from other good fish soup!

Too much hype about this. Could have cooked this at home. The soup is not rich enough as the sole fish powder is sprinkled into the stock at point of ordering (either that or not enough goes into the stock). Fish is thinner than most good fish soup stalls (many reviews also shared that), so the result is the fish slices are not QQ as one would expect. Good thing is all the ingredients are fresh (but that's a basic). If Han Ji at Amoy is 5, the fish soup at Defu is 4, this would come to 3. The reason for 2 star is the messy queue which lines up to the food pickup only to cross over to cashier at order point. Imagine the mess of diners trying to order and pick up hot fish soup. I believe they can improve. P/S: ignore the liver, given to me by family member

Fish soup tasted similar to elsewhere and it's still delicious. However compared to it's original stall, I somehow feel the original stall has better tasting soup, however the fish soup here is still delicious. Might not be reasonable for the price thou
