No doubt about the quality of their fish soups. Our pomfret and red grouper fish were both fresh and very good. The 2 soups were of different flavours and both were tasty.

Nice Teochew style of fish soup which is light and nice. The better type of fish run out fast so you might have to take Batang fish which is nice too. Order taking is a bit messy as staff do not seems to know if the fish you want will be running out. The chilli is nice. I came around 1 am and waited for around 25 mins. Update: last takeaway was prepared by a very young couple. Soup was too salty. Standard seems to be dropping.

Came down to try after hearing all about it all over social media. A bit disappointed as it taste just like your normal fish soup. Nothing special, but cost more than an average fish soup. No queue when I went down, so still OK. If I've to queue for this, I rather pass.

Takeout 2 packets of seafood soup with rice and added additional bitter gourd for both after paying for the seafood soup order. Came back home to realize that bitter gourd was not added in the soup. Quite disappointing and the seafood soup was less flavorful as compared to before too.

With a pleasant liking for fish soup, its hard to resist whenever I heard there are tasty fish soups around and especially that the media had been raving it recently that I decided to make a trip down to Breadtalk IHQ for the popular First Street Teochew Fish Soup. At the first taste of the soup, it kind of gave me a familiar taste but I could not remember where I had it. The taste has hints of fish fragrant but in a lighter way. Slices of ginger can be seen in the soup with strips of preserved vegetables. Beside just fish slices,  the ingredients were rather straight forward with lettuce, spring and fried onions. Fish slices thickness and freshness were acceptable. The soup was clear and similar to what we have from the Batang Fish Soup. The only difference was the type of fish and pairing this with a bowl of rice. The Garoupa Slice is smooth and tasty on its own. In fact I was rather disappointed as I thought the taste will hit my expectation as they are already so popular just with the flagship stall. I felt its over-rated. Perhaps I have travelled from the west with a higher expectation but considering this fish soup, its pretty ordinary. There are better quality fish soup with better price out there, thus nothing to rave about. On the other hand, I think I will go down to their original stall for a try too.

Best fish soup in the world. Really. Managed to take a shot with the boss who started it all with his own two hands. Do you know that he is also a skilled martial artist when he was way younger?

Enjoyed the soup that's added with powdered sole fish for more flavour. Tried both the promfret and batang fish, I'll say the latter is not value for money. Both are tender and fresh but the promfret somehow lost its sweetness which one come to expect.

Not a great photo, I know (took it in a rush). But it was good, not had a good traditional teochew style fish soup for some time - it is a nice contrast to all the new franchises of 'seafood soups' (like Yanji) - with all the fanfare of crayfish, minced pork, etc. This is simple and nice.
