Defective Wall Mirror Panel I engaged Glass Point (GP) to install 10 wall mirror panels during the final stages of my home renovations based mostly on past favourable reviews. Due to COVID restrictions earlier this year, I was unable to visit the site to view the mirror panels after they were installed. My main contractor kindly took the initiative to cover the mirrors with plastic sheets to protect them against dust, hence I did not know nor suspect anything was amiss. When the protective plastic coverings were removed 3 months later, one of the mirror panels was found with an internal blemish, which looked like a manufacturing defect. GP regrettably treated the matter in a dismissive manner, hypothesising that it could be due to exposure to moisture (which I pointed out, is most unlikely as that wall is a “dry” party wall with my neighbour not exposed to the exterior or had any concealed water piping) or adverse chemical reaction (which I pointed out, is an illogical excuse as the only “chemical” behind the mirror panel is the glue which GP used to bond its mirror panel to the plywood backing also supplied and installed by GP). Despite my explanations and appeals to GP senior management, GP simply stuck to its contractual position that there’s no warranty on the mirrors. GP was closed minded to the possibility that the internal blemish was due to manufacturing defect, and did not want to have any more dealings with me even though I had additional mirror panels to install. In short, it’s caveat emptor, if anything should go awry, you are on your own as GP will simply stick to its position that there’s no warranty on the mirrors. In the end, for my additional mirrors, I found an alternative vendor, who is well established and offered a one year warranty on its mirrors as a standard contractual term.
