Gold Star porridge and satay - 79 Circuit Rd

Your typical old school hawker store for light supper or supplement for your supper. Sells porridge and satay. Porridge is cheap at 2.50 . Do not expect much , it's just to fill up. Very watery kind of porridge . A very old school taste to it. Almost home cook kind . Rather nostalgia .

The food here is sold by an elderly couple in their 70s. I arrived around 8pm on a Friday night but the stall was not crowded, almost as if only long time customers would know them. The satay was slowly and carefully roasted over real charcoal. The mutton satay is not the biggest for 70c each, but the pork ones were surprisingly large that I thought it was chicken thigh satay. They were also well marinated, it was fragrant and tasty. The satay sauce was a bit lackluster but the cucumber and onions were fresh. There's just simply no reason why they don't deserve 5 stars. It's hawker food, good old hawker food. Plain and simple, nothing fancy, a taste of old school. I will gladly admit it is not the best, cheapest, or tastiest satay I have tried. The taste is definitely above average for sure.
