Jun 2019. This stall was one of the few reasons why people wanna come to ShunFu food centre. The soup was broth quality and the dry version of the Prawn noodle was mixed with really good chilli.

For starters, Huat Heng Fried Prawn Mee at Shunfu Market does a pretty darn good version of Dry Prawn Mee. As a regular at the stall, I’d recommend ordering the Mee Pok or Mee Kia version for a slightly different take on the usual “boring” Yellow Mee. The lean pork was fresh enough and the prawns were relatively huge la. What REALLY got me was that they were already DESHELLED for us. (Starts the day off well tbh). The star of the show was the super GAO GAO(thick and concentrated) broth to go along with the dry noodles. You can literally imagine the hot simmering pot of soup at the back of the stall, rich with prawn shell essence and the many flavourful spices that help to zhng up the broth, just with one sip.

Terrible taste of prawn noodle I have ever eaten. Ordered the dry version, the chili paste is not tasty and using the tomato sauce to mix is the worst! Few like you can cook the noodle and buy yourself a bottle of ketchup to eat at home. The soup is so bland and diluted! The lean meat is hard and the prawn is over cooked. The prawn is so tiny in size and not even clean properly with the intestines of the prawn still intact. Cooking is kind of slow.. not worth my calories here ! By the way the even stopped the fried prawn mee probably the signature one in the past... so you can stop coming if you here for the fried prawn noodles !

Old school prawn noodle with thick soap. Always long queue with regular patrons. Return to eat.

Be prepared to Q & wait for 40 mins to get your food if you patronise at peak hour as hawkers were super slow. However, the fried prawn noodle portion and ingredients were generous for $5 and it would be tastier if packet home instead to let the gravy time to soak in. But it still not worth the time spent queueing for it.

Had the dry meepok prawn noodle with chilli here and I was not disappointed! The noodles were cooked al dente and the prawns and pork slices are good. Do note that the prawns they give here are the sliced version if you order the normal version. Don't really fancy the soup here though as it is more towards the savoury note rather than the sweet, umami flavour which I prefer. But I would think this boils down to personal preference though and I would recommend this stall for their dry version of prawn noodles. If you are thinking of having the soup version, do try the one further down ?
