I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately the tempura doesnโ€™t stand up to the other high end tempura places in Singapore. Ingredients could be better and the batter is meh. Maybe the experience at the counter is better?

Fresh ingredients arriving every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Pretty impressive. Only sashimi grade seafoods are used. Oil is safflower oil which doesnโ€™t conflict with the taste of the food ingredients. Dining experience at the counter seat is very good. Chef Yamamura serves each tempura one by one and suggests which condiments each goes well with accordingly. Ala carte menu is also available.

came here for dinner and had the Tsuki set. itโ€™s very spacious with good decor and very good ambience. the service was good too. the 10 pieces of Tempura included 3 prawns and 2 fishes. both the Kakiage (Tencha Rice & Cold Somen Noodles) options were yummy too!?

Located at Dempsey (operated by the Como group), Ippoh is a new place in town to get your tempura fix. The batter is thinly coated like you would find in Japan, so if you prefer thickly coated tempura, you might want to manage your expectations. The 1 downside of thinly coated tempura is that it gets soggy easily. We had the UME set menu which consisted of 11 pieces of tempura. They were all lightly coated and perfectly fried. Nothing really stood out for me but there wasn't a bad dish either. They had lemon, salt, radish and a tempura dip to go along the food. Too be honest, the food would have been quite bland without these condiments. I had the cold somen noodles after. Was really nice, preferred it more than the actual tempura. The black sesame ice cream was as good as it could have been. No complaints there. On the whole, it was a pleasant experience but I have had better tempura.

Had a lovely dining experience here. The service was friendly and the tempura was light and crispy. I ordered a la carte, but the set is a better deal. Would have preferred the bar counter seats which I thought was what Iโ€™d reserved through their online booking system but it turned out to be a dining table near the bar area. Probably better to call to book instead.

Had better tempura at better pricing. This is way overpriced, quality so-so & the quantity is so stingy. Paid $70/set for 2 tiny prawns, another equally tiny fish, 1 piece of fish, 1 egg plant, 1 sweet potato, 1 shitake, 1 asparagus w either rice or soba. They cant even fill the rice bowl, gave less than half a bowl of rice, soba also measly amount. come on...so hard up for ala carte add on.. definitely will not return with so many better tempura / Japanese food choices out there these days. This is 1 out to rob the rich nearby ?

A very hearty tempura meal, love the thin tempura crust similar to what we get in JP. The service was amazing, the waiter will explain every single dish and how to enjoy them. Price is at the higher end, 100+ for the set ? A bit expensive but I thoroughly enjoyed the meal? If I can go to JP to eat tempura there I would but now we can't so this is a good temporary mitigation plan ?

The food was good. Service was good. It was busy asking deep fried seafood and veggies served each so I didn't have time to take photos. The last veggie deep fry was good. ( I won't use word tempura as it's Japanese languages not really a generic term though this us a Japanese restaurant). I felt so sleepy and thirsty after lunch, maybe due to flour and salt or soy sauce they used. Try to use less salt when dipping. A Chef was taking care of many orders alone, it looks like he needs an assistant to prepare food. Overall a better experience than others. Will visit again but will use less salt or dipping sauce.
