Very authentic flavour Teochew Fish soup... using Batang fish, which is very fresh sliced. Topped with prawns and garnishes. Generous serving of vegetable too. Dipped in typical soy beans with red cut chilli. The taste is very typical Teochew style.

Ordered on Tuesday. You have to order minimum 10 pieces and place your order several hours in advance. Better to call at 9am for an evening order. Highlights for us were the png kueh and yam kueh. Soon kueh was decent but the skin was a bit thick as compared to poh cheu, mei zhen.

I donโ€™t understand why must I get scolded every time I ordered my food there. I gave clear instructions for my orders. They uncle must scolded you may be just one more question you asked or reminded him on your order. Plus, this is not a life changing fish soup. Very average and I donโ€™t understand why he has such bad attitude!

The thickness of the kueh skin are perfect, not too thick or thin. Fillings are generous and taste good. Recommend to make a call to order before heading down cause they are sold out early in the morning. Will definitely patronise them again.

One of the best fish soup I've had in a long while. Fresh fish and sweet prawns. Yes, the uncle can be very grouchy, so be warned.

Fish and Prawn Soup for $5 is a steal. Prawn is super fresh. Explains the perpetual queue of uncles during lunch. Follow the seniors for good foodie hunt. Like their practice of limiting max 3 orders per customer. A hidden jem at York Hill estate.

Ok bad news , the chef no longer cooks but his wife, due to age and sickness. Variety of soup base reduce to 1 type. Overall still better than the flock of fish soup else where, as no filler was added . Just fish, veg and soup. No toufu no tomatoes. Very light crisp sweetness of the soup. Love the yellow beans cut chilli combo. It brought out the sweetness of the fish. A good honest hawker stall in a tuck away place. Good stuff .

Nestle in a quiet and sleepy part of the CBD, in a tired estate is the non descript Jalan Kukoh Hawker Centre. Catered for the seniors in this small, aging housing estate, is a lesser known food centre with a few great eats at value prices. Offices located nearby offer some office crowd now that dine in is back. I had been coming here for years mainly for good value porridge breakfasts. Recent years with the opening of new outlets this food centre is buzzing again. Opened for about 3 years now is this Teochew Fish Soup. Given the great tasting soups, it never fail to garner a queue over lunch time. Today, given that the resident Pig Organ soup is closed, for a late lunch near 2pm, there is a 20 minutes wait for my fish soup. Given, for hawker fare clear fish soup my top favourite is still Han Kee at Amoy, but for a change and easy parking, this Teochew Fish Soup is also on my top and repeated to go list. Only a few items on offering, fresh Batang fish mackerel and good size sea prawns are the favourite orders. For me, it's a no frill Fish only bowl of clear soup. Good size slices of Batang fish cooked just right, some greens to provide crunch, and a clean, refreshing bowl of clear soup with nothing but fish bones stock and fried solefish bits to offer depths. Great value at $4 entry order, an offering you probably have trouble looking for given we're in the heart of the CBD. Even most of the milk spiked MSG fish soups with fried frozen nuggets you pay upwards of $5 to $6. The atmosphere here is lazy, somewhat less spanking clean, but if you can get pass that, it's a breezy and easy food centre with easy parking, ample seats and a bowl of clean tasting fish soup at great value.
